Hector's Dolphin is the smallest dolphin on the planet with its specimen reaching the maximum length of just 1.2-1.6 metres! These tiny creatures inhabit only the bright emerald waters around New Zealand. Unfortunately, the subspecies — Maui Dolphins — are critically endangered. The total population is estimated at less than 50 individuals.

Sadly, it is another case when people remember far too late that every species is fragile and needs care and protection before it receives its place in the Red Book. Hopefully, the lives of these stunningly beautiful dolphins will teach us the importance of taking action with other species before it goes past the point of no return.
