Description My friend Dru (check out her blog here: [link] ) asked me to make her a Tonks-style jacket for the opening of the last Harry Potter movie, and here is the result. *tadah*

I started with the Simplicity faux-Matrix jacket pattern, and then modded the Hallows out of it. Made it to fit her measurements, changed the sleeve cuffs, added a hood (stolen from another random pattern in my mom's stash >.> ), drawstring ribbons for rouching on the sleeves, extra panels for a more ruffly skirt, zipper instead of Velcro (Velcro? Seriously, Simplicity? o.O ), and a punkish cinch in the back, as well as hemming the bottom to suit Tonks' punk style. *phew* (If I ever figure out how to put on snaps, it may sport those in the future, and/or some big pockets. We shall see.)

Despite several frustrations (only a burn ban and its own non-natural fibers keep the rest of the fabric from DIAF), this was a ton of fun to make, especially when I could see how excited Dru was about it. I hope I get more chances to make costumes for people!
