When I first saw Dusk Lycanroc, at first I wasn't sure what to think. The evolution being available only to an event Rockruff instead of any Rockruff didn't really help. I suppose I've kinda warmed up to the idea of a Dusk Lycanroc, but I'm still waiting to hear about a Dawn Lycanroc. It would only make sense to announce one, but then again... Sense and the Pokemon series don't always mix quite well.

This whole situation reminds me of what they did in XYZ. Instead of bringing back one of Ash's older Pokemon and giving it a Mega Evolution, they instead just gave his Greninja a pseudo-Mega Evolution that us players wouldn't be able to use until later. That's more or less what they did here. They couldn't decide which form they wanted Ash's Rockruff to take, so they took a third option and gave it a unique evolution instead. I'm unsure whether they're being lazy or creative with this.

That said, I'm actually thinking about using the Dusk Lycanroc on my team in Ultra Sun and Moon, along with the I Choose You Cap Pikachu. I hear that Dusk Lycanroc will have Tough Claws as its ability. That, combined with Accelerock could come in handy. I've also never used a Rock Type on my main team before, so it'll be nice to have some variety.
