Fantastic!!
Adding a little Vibration of free style to the fluid would definitely add a charm....
But still there is no need.....

nice work and an interesting subtle abstraction

This is so cool! I just realised that the background behind the glass in the middle is somehow "curvy"

Fantastic piece of work. I was going to offer a suggestion how you could, if you wished, make it even more like the original by adjusting the index of refraction in the fluid; but on a second look, I see even that is not needed.

I'm guessing you made some things different deliberately, so it would be clear that this is not just a photomanipulation.

Wow, nice scene setup. Great Image, it just need more samples.

yes i could render it longer, but i actually like the grainy feel to it.

funny how photographers (especially with scenes like this) try to achieve perfection with lighting, setup and shot itself... and on the other side how cg artists try to reach imperfection with their renderings and get as near to real life as possible with grain, dof, lens distortions etc.

May i ask? how was this done?

originally it was a photo, which i just recreated in 3d software package - blender, if that's what you are asking about

here is what i understand thus far, you placed two different card boards as background, i am wondering how did you make the glasses reflecting the different colors on them? can this be done without a software, since clearly i do not have one. thanks for answering my question in advance

oh yes, it can be done without any software, try it - pour water into glass and see how it refracts background if you look through glass, what i did here is just a simulation of that phenomena with a computer graphics, if you follow link from the image description you will see the photo

Wow, What a great concept, and wonderful execution. Despite the slight lack in complete fluids reflections and refraction in blender, this is stunning.

Great use of cycles. IOR and World settings for the ambiance.

Recreating the photo, there is a bit of Depth of field you could have added to blur the color line in the background yet keep it crisp in the glass, but that's a minor detail, easily overseen. Overall this is wonderful work. Just might be inspired to do something similar.

exactly, the concept is great, loved it and wondered how hard it would be to recreate it

and sure, i strongly encourage you to give it a go! since i used basic materials and there are things that can be improved, like dof for example. i might even try this with different renderers as well just to check how they would perform against cycles

Indeed! I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more from you, and Will dabble into this when I can, Best of luck!
