The 7th design in my Fairy Tales & Folklore collection.I was fast running out of fairy tales to use as a base for the designs when ~cjrogers1993 suggested that I include pants in the collection. This gave me the perfect excuse to use Hansel & Gretel, which I had earlier rejected since it features both a boy and a girl as the lead characters and I didn't want the extra hassle of having to figure that one out (yes, I have the dumb and can't brain right now).
The outfit consists of a white wool felt cap (lined in cotton so it won't itch) and a matching knitted over-long wool scarf.
A grey A-line top with white embroidery on the hem, that buttons up in the back (with little white buttons) and darker grey tapered pants, both made out of wool. The pants would have similar gathered/elasticate side pockets as the Snow White dress.
Black mary-janes like in previous designs.
I'm eternally sorry I haven't drawn all the little details like the pants pocets or the buttons of the top. If I can find the time, I'll do a little sketch of all the details that aren't shown in the design sketches later.

Technical bits:
Again a mix of markers, colouring pencils, gel pen and PhotoShop. The pattern/texture on both the top and pants is the same to begin with, but I just lightened/darkened it as neccessary.

I'm so glad that people like my collection.
I'm a costume designer by training, and I'm more used to designing costumes than actual wearable clothes as such. This has been a nice excercise for my design muscles.
And I'd wear everything in my collection too. That was one of my criteria for the outfits as I was designing; would I wear it myself.

they're all Andersen fairytales. And i'm not really sure if you want to do Andersen tales. But i figured i'd just bother you with them anyway

I've already done the Snow Queen.
And I'm only picking fairytales that have a woodland/forest feel to them. There are quite a few tales that I've had to skip over just because they'd be too hard to incorporate into the style I'm after, even though I'd love to use them. And then there are tales that would fit the style, but that would make designing a single outfit impossible, like Donkey Skin and Twelve Dancing Princesses (some of my favourite fairy tales ever). There's also the lack of time... I could branch out a bit more stylewise if I had more time.
Although, if this was a summer collection, I'd so use The Little Mermaid for the swimming costume!

I also love The Twelve Dancing Princesses. It along with Donkey Skin, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood are my favourite fairy tales.

Donkey Skin is a great tale! Especially for some one who's as obsessed with the clothing featured in stories as the stories themselves!

I do have one villain in my collection, the Snow Queen and if I had the time I'd pop all the others in there too. I could have so much fun with the big bad wolf and all the wicked stepmothers & -sisters and witches involved!

Now that I have the pants bug, I want to sqeeze in one more design. I've started to sketch the final one (Cinderella), but I'd like to do another one with pants (Rapunzel) if I just have the time.
