Doesn't he look stoned? He was super chill too.Perched in a tree, the barred owl scans the forest floor for small creatures. Large, forward-facing eyes equip the owl with exceptional vision and an acute ability to judge distances. Soft, fringed feathers silent the owl’s flight as it swoops down to catch its unsuspecting prey.

The quality of color and sharp detail in this photograph is gorgeous. With the background faded out the way it is, it's very easy to focus on the bird. I love the relaxed pose; he actually looks a little bored to me, which is amusing. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/let… " width="15" height="15" alt="
That being said, the background seems a little monotonous to me. It's probably something that you couldn't help (because it's the environment the owl is in), but in comparison to all the different shades of color in the owl, the green background makes the picture as a whole a little bland.
I would also like to suggest trying to get a picture of the bird in-motion. This is a great photograph as is, but evident movement would make it even more interesting than it already is. Headshots of any animal are very popular and relatively easy to capture, so it's something I've seen plenty of times before.

Thank you for the kind words! I took this with my new telephoto lens. I shelled out a little more dough and finally bought one with image stabilization. I've noticed the difference too.
Funny story about Photoshop; I have it, but my lady's MacBook charger died! I have no access to it (for now). I used GIMP. It's an open source software that mimics Photoshop. It's pretty good, but not as seamless as Adobe's product. For a freebie, it's awesome. Have you ever used it?
