Description Phoenix, Griffin and dragons are my favorite mythical creatures.

how about you?

Amphiptere is a hybrid from on European heraldry, part snake and part bird.Throughout Europe, the amphiptere was widely feared, so any family that displayed it on their coat of arms would be perceived as particularly fearsome in battle.

Despite the origin of the word, amphipteres can be found all over the world predating the European counterpart. For example, Ancient Egypt has many amphipteres, and the Mesoamerican Plumed Serpent Quetzalcoatl sometimes takes the form of the amphiptere.

Amphipteres, specifically, are four-legged dragons with feathery wings. Easily mistaken for gryphons / griffins, they can also, albeit uncommonly, have feathered crests, chests, paws, joints, and/or manes.

There's actually another term for the two-legged kind (no arms, or arms = wings) known as zilants - feathered wyverns, basically.

Like Quetzalcoatls? It's amazing how much of a science there is behind fantasy creatures, isn't it?

Yea, but I wouldn't call them Quetzalcoatls since that's the name of an aztec deity however
