My friend- who is Roxy's owner- came to visit for the weekend. When Roxy's health was bad enough that she thought she wasn't going to make it, she asked me if I could draw her and text me a few of her favorite photos. She didn't care what size they would be or what medium I would use, she just wanted her Roxy memorialized. So when she came, I surprised her with 2 drawings. This is the first: a pencil portrait of her favorite photo. (The second is a Halloween photo which I'm also uploading with this)It's been a long time since I've drawn a realistic animal. The last time was actually a portrait she asked me to do a few years ago of her first dog who passed away from cancer. You can see her here:
I decided this portrait would look best in black and white so I could focus on and show the details. I'm quite proud of it. And now I kind of want to make a portrait of my own little dog when I have the time to do so. (Maybe as a Christmas present for my parents since they love him just as much as I do.)
