Description What is the definition of a "HERO"?

My dictionary tells me that a hero is-
A noun. Also that the plural is "He-ROES".

But it also tells me that a hero is-
A being known for possessing extraordinary courage, strength, and wisdom.

And that a hero is-
Usually the child of a mortal and a God, making him a demigod.

So then-

How would you describe a hero?

Is he a man with a cape looking for his villain?
Is he a man with supernatural powers, who is no match for any mortal?
Is he a man seeking vengance on a criminal,
Or simply a reason to wear spandex in public and-
SOMEHOW still be taken seriously?

Is he a man in tights; willing to thieve from the moneyed-
Merely to provide for the less fortunate?
Is he a chiseled man who bursts through a window, demanding nothing but-
"Come with me, I'll protect you." and-
Because you're too involved in staring at his rippling abdominals-
You comply; no questions asked?

No, he must be a man who requires a lengthy introduction.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS,
NOW INTRODUCING WHAT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR-
FEAST YOUR EYES ON; THE MASKED MARTYR, THE CAPED CADAVER-
THE ONE AND ONLY-
Super being... Not a hero.

Heroes like that don't exist in our universe.
Only in comics, or television, or your minds.
Never in the real world. No way.

But-
I still have some small sliver of faith left in humanity.
I do believe in a very different, very real kind of hero.
I believe in a true hero.

A true hero is a man who guides you when you're lost.

A true hero is a man who supports you when you're falling.

A true hero is a man who will genuinely compliment you-
And, in the midst of your darkest day; become your sunlight.

A true hero will always make you want to giggle-
Especially when the rest of the world makes you want to cry.

A true hero will always be proud to say he is your best friend-
Even when everyone else around treats you like a Leper.

Anyway, I guess what I'm really trying to say is-

A true hero is not a masked martyr.
A true hero is not a caped cadaver.
And a true hero is definatly not a super hero.
A true hero is simply, a super man.
