I like that the photo has a story behind it. It gives life to it. Although maybe a wider shot so that more names would be visible would've made it more obvious (as without the description I wouldn't have known what it was about). What else I like about it is the fact that it's black and white - it makes the photo classical and clean in a way. And suits very well with the theme.

I kinda wanted to have the focus on the white rose, rather than the memorial itself. However, now that you mention it I doubt the focus would have been lost in a wider shot, due to the black background of the memorial. Great advice, I'll keep it in mind!

I totally understand that and, to be honest, the framing doesn't ruin the photo for me or anything. Just that the message is clearer that way.

I really love the composition in this, particularly how the smoothness of the memorial contrasts with the textures of the rose. All I'd say for improvement is maybe clone out the little specks on the memorial in post edit, but that's probably just me an my OCD haha wonderful piece and powerful message!
