Description Beasts are sentient intelligent quadruped mammals, they are capable of speech and have a rich culture that centers around values of loyalty and family.

Beasts can have a huge assortment of combined traits of Earth mammals, while traits vary they are all the same standard-horse size. All Beasts also have the same head shape including nostril type, muzzle length, fleshy lips, and eye placement. Their bodes are all the same proportions, think horse-like but with a somewhat shorter neck. All Beasts have front limbs that are rigged like human arms, they are digitgrade in the hind limbs. All Beasts have human-like clawed hands with paw pads at the end of each digit and across the palms. Their hands while bulky are still able to perform finesse tasks (canonically Beasts have 4 hand digits but they may be given 5 for anthro artwork and fursuits) Hind feet can vary and even be hooves but they never have more than 4 digits. Beasts are omnivores and their teeth are best described as bear-like but with human incisors and human molars in the very back.

They can only have mammal traits, no fins, scales, beaks or feathers. Aquatic species are otter-like. No wings. No extra parts, no extra eyes, extra limbs, etc with the exception of horns/antlers (look up Jacobs sheep).
Neck manes and back ridges, whiskers, boar-like tusks and saber fangs, all are possible. Ears vary and can be a made up shape, some have furry inner ears some don't, they all have a fleshy earlobe and outer ear rim though this can be hidden with fur. Antlers and horns are common but not every breed of Beast has them, antlers are "false" in Beasts in that they grow with age like horns and do not shed. Tails vary and can be cat-like, wolf-like, otter-like, nubby, etc. Coat color varies but only mammal colors, no rainbow. Eye color can be anything that exists in Earth mammals, pupils can also be any predatory Earth mammal shape. Coat pattern varies, anything that makes sense on Earth mammals works for a Beast. Coat length and type can be anything found in wild Earth mammals.

Mountain dwelling species due to their isolation are more independent than lowland species often only living with immediate family or on their own. Due to the lack of socialization outside their own breeds mountain Beasts tend to have issues with what we would call a "resting bitch face" when around lowland breeds. Due to their isolation and natural independence mountain breeds have the most pure bloodlines as they often don't have the chance or desire to crossbreed even with other mountain breeds.

Aquatic breeds share the same isolation issues as mountain breeds as while they can survive perfectly fine on land they much prefer to stay near water living much as otters do, as thus they too tend to stay either with close family or on their own and also don't often crossbreed even with other kinds of aquatics. Both sea and freshwater aquatics exist.
Exceptions can and do happen for mountain and aquatic breeds as some do choose to leave their typical range and join clans composed of other breeds and also pair up with other breeds.

Lowland forest and open plains breeds by contrast are social and typically live in large diverse groups of many different breeds. As the breeds readily intermingle crossbreeding is commonplace and it is hard to say if any true purebreds even exist as the resulting young always take on the breed name of whichever parent's traits they inherited the most, meaning a Grasstail or Hornnose today may be entirely different than it was 100 years ago.

Beasts are monogamous when choosing mates. Their young are born open eyed and mobile, less helpless than a puppy but not as developed as a horse they stay in a den for the first month of life. Litters of one or two are most common, they can have up to four in a single birthing though this results in smaller weaker young. Beast cubs stay with their parents for at least the first 7 years of their lives and as their young require much care and teaching they space their litters by at least 5 years, Beasts typically do not have more then 3 litters in their lifetime. Beasts grow quickly for the first 10 years of their life and reach adult size in that time, their aging process then slows dramatically and they can easily live to be 100.

Breeds shown here:

Nightwalker - Nocturnal lowland forest breed, crossbreeding in this example has resulted in striping and horns not found in true purebreds, otherwise his traits are perfectly that of a Nightwalker and thus he is considered such by his own kin.

Birchshadow - Mountain forest breed, striped to blend in with the trees of its namesake, one of the few breeds to partially hibernate, this example appears almost perfectly purebred except her hind feet are pawed not hoofed.

Stonedancer - Mountain rockies breed, piebald is common as it blends with the snow that covers its homeland most of the year, this example appears to be completely purebred which is entirely likely as Stonedancers dwell in such remote locations.

Aside from these fursuits my best visual example of my species is an old drawing of two of the main characters of the book I will never finish lilleahwest.deviantart.com/art…
And I guess this head study of the most main character is helpful lilleahwest.deviantart.com/art…
I also have various bits here lilleahwest.deviantart.com/gal…

coincidence happens and beast is a very common word that can easily be used in place of a made up species name, just dun call it a beastcub-beast and we good

Are "beasts" an open species? Was just curious,  I didn't see anything in the species info.

I am curious as to the anatomy differences between your first two Beasts and your newest creation. Was this a conscious decision on your part, or simply the evolution of your style?

Either way I love how they look lined up side by side~
