Description I was doodling with nothing special in mind, and it ended up being Snape and a grown-up Hermione, bringing him a cup of tea while he does some lame test corrections. Because in Foxland, apparently, nobody ever dies and Snape admits he loves being a professor and starts wearing colorful ascots, and he and Hermione hang out a lot, possibly in a more-than-friend capacity because why not.

This is sappy and I spent way too much time on it. Blame my Snape/Hermione fixation on Caeria , of course.

Does anybody else think there are some Muggle inventions that are just better than their dumb wizard counterparts? Like, quills. Pens are a great idea. So are notebooks. Who the hell wants to carry scrolls around to do your homework on? But whatever, they can cure the common cold, so I guess they've got that.

My all-time favorite tea is African red, or rooibos, with sugar n' lemon. Every time I get sick, I drink gallons of that good stuff. Not that I'm a tea snob or anything, I just know what I like.

P.S. The flowery stuff is a sample from the PhotoShop brush set I'm working on! I figure somebody else might have some fun with some pattern doodles, 'cause I know I sure do.

Love the flowery stuff. It suits the mood. Love Rooibos tea. That red color makes a great fabric dye - very pale pinky-brown - and it tastes good, too. (I take mine straight.)
Thank you for sharing the beautiful work. In my dream world, this (Snape and Hermione looking like this) would happen. Often.

I think this is probably the best looking Snape I've seen. He simply looks.... normal! I'm not sure if I can explain nor if you will understand what I mean.

Most drawings of him tend to go two ways: one, him as Alan Rickman and two, a skinny, long-haired and big-nosed guy. The more generic version based on the way the artist imagines him from the books. But they all share one thing in common and that is a sort of "cartoony" look. Fantasy. There's also the japanese-styled where he looks much too young with delicate features.

But yours looks like any real man from the real work and I find that to be VERY appealing. The kind of guy you'd pass by in the street and not even notice because there's nothing special about his features unless you're really put out by that nose. And of course not counting his clothes. Those are what gets the attention.

Alan Rickman is this way. A regular guy, homely and not exactly pretty. It's our love and admiration for him that makes us look closer and see the things others won't. Just as it happens with Snape in this pairing. And just as this drawing shows.

I still can't seem to draw him in a way I'm pleased with for all of these reasons! My visuals just don't agree with my 'perception?' of his character.

Because we loved him once we saw him acting. But I'm being honest, if I saw him in the street and didn't know him, yes, perhaps I'd look but wouldn't be much interested. He'd be just another guy to me. Specially at his current age the poor guy. Oh, but I assure you he will and DOES gather attention the moment he opens that mouth and that lovely voice pleasantly vibrates it's way into your eardrums!

You see, that was my experience. The reason I related to the SS/HG pairing. My own real-life "Severus"(Teacher who's 25 years older than me) is a regular guy I just though as another older man the first time I met him. Hair starting to grey slightly. I didn't think much. Until he showed interest in the very same things I did when we first spoke and as I kept knowing him we were instant friends and then, from my side at least, I grew to care for him more. And it is NOW that I see him as beautiful, hot and handsome. Because now I do pay attention, look for his best traits, like his eyes, his hair and pay more attention to his body too despite him having a belly.

Same with Alan. I've got introduced to him in the HP movies. Didn't know anymore about him, then started seeing more movies and I just fell in love with the guy. So now I can see his most recent photos with his snowy white hair, wrinkly face and spots and swoon at his smile and his expressive eyes and that sensual mouth of his. But AFTER I got to know him. So in a way, it's sort of a blind thing. Though I also like to say it's not blindness but our eyes opening instead to see what others don't.

So in drawings I like to see the realism. If Snape is draw much too handsome then it's just not him. There must be some balance. Look like a regular guy to anyone who doesn't know him but also show those lovely little traits we all find attractive. You managed that here. :]

I first saw Rickman in Truly, Madly, Deeply, so he's always been kind of a babe to me. But it's true, the more you like someone as a person, the more attractive they become to you.

Oh! Now that you made me think about it, I had seen Rickman before. Die Hard! My grandpa loved those movies and they showed them so much on the locals I ended up hating them. But that was the problem, they were local so translated to Spanish as I'm from Puerto Rico. Another movie I saw him in was Galaxy Quest. But back then I didn't know him and barely remembered his acting. Plus the movies being translated I didn't get to hear his awesome voice because i just know that if I had I would have loved him in GQ first. It was only after a friend of mine told me he was in the movie that I started remembering and realized he was the "alien guy" but had to watch the movie again to really remember. So, I was still truly introduced by HP.

The same happened to me with Johnny Depp. I first fell in love with Willy Wonka, then decided to look up "that guy that played him so cool" and was shocked with all the movies I had seen before, specially Scissorhands but i never really new the actor.

But I do enjoy looking at pictures of Alan younger now and see how handsome he was, and looked for older movies as well so now even seeing him older I can still his his younger charms.

I know I already commented on this picture, but seeing it again reminded me of a short, 3 chapter SS/HG story I read (after a tirade of stories read inspired by your art). Per the author, it is "more limey than lemony, but sex is graphically discussed. Language." It's really well written and sort of a future story of SS/HG. [link]

I do love this piece. I love your use of color and texture in the background and overlapping the foreground. Snape's hands are wonderful and I love the dash of color in his ascot. Ascots! What could be hotter?

I love love love love love this drawing. I've developed an embarrassingly fierce obsession with ss/hg, and this is the exact image of everything I want them to be. (Actually, it's you who got me into ss/hg: I loved this drawing and the Pet Project-inspired ones when I first saw them, and my interest was piqued. Shortly after that, I barricaded myself into my room with my laptop and refused to come out, and my grades started to plummet, and all my friends thought I'd died... Well, I exaggerate a little, but not by much.)

I always love your art, but this is lovely because of the feeling in it. It's just--peaceful. Slow, and content, and safe, in a lifetime where the war is over and people are allowed to be people again.

Love the colors, love the likeness of the characters, love everything about this. Especially that ascot.

(Will have to try that tea.)

Ah, good old fanfic!Snape, I'd forgotten about you in the years since starting college. Only in fanon would Severus ever wash his hair.

Also, vanilla rooibos tea is the Best Tea Ever. Sad but true story: I moved to a new city about a month ago, and despite checking out nearly every market and supermarket around, I have not found so much as a single bag of the stuff.

Ha! Poor Snape. I'm sure he did wash his hair, he just probably... I don't know, had a pH imbalance or something. I recall being in grade school with my super-curly hair, and the snotty girls would ask me, "Do you know what a brush is?" And giggle like it was the funniest snap on the planet. I wanted to say, "Motherfuckers, do you know what my FIST is? YOU try brushing an afro."

Your SSHG fixation helps the other 'shippers without artistic talent stay happy. I really like Snape's ascot and that he's wearing COLORS (the world is ending!! lol), and Hermione looks so... content. They both do, really. Not the permagrin, sing and dance happy, but the quiet contentment of having a cuppa.
