Oh my god, this would be amazing.
But have it be simultaneously produced by, say, Andy Muschietti, Brian de Palma, or especially Guillermo del Toro.

papyrus looks like he was drawn by the animators from Studio Ghibli themselves! This needs to be a real film! There needs to be an UNDERTALE movie made by Studio Ghibli! Too bad it closed down though

Adapting this game would be challenging since the story seems too long and episodic for movie form. Β Disney ran into that problem while trying to adapt The Snow Queen and it took them 75 years to make a proper movie version of that in the form of Frozen. Β I think Studio Ghibli would find making a two hour movie out of Undertale tricky, but not impossible. Β It would have to elaborate on Frisk's backstory, give grander instrumentation to the soundtrack, and give the action scenes better visuals than the game ever could. Β As long as this version of Undertale does a significant amount of things different from the game (but not to the point where its unrecognizable), it should be fine. Β You don't want this movie to be redundant.

Long ago monsters were sealed underground by humans. In the year 201X, Frisk a mute gender ambiguous child who communicates largely through sign language and grunts falls into the underground and meets the ghost of a girl named Chara who only Frisk can see. The two then begin their adventures through the world of monsters meeting goat mothers, skeleton brothers, fish ladies and Killer robots.Β Frisk's refusal to hurt anyone clashes with Chara's "kill or be killed mentality" but slowly she starts to warm up to Frisk, though they face a problem when they learn they may have to kill Asgore to escape the Underground.

Frisk is literally the most bad ass character. Like, the characters from earth bound, Gohan in the cell saga, and big boss come close, but think about it, Frisk can fight gods and just kinda refuse to hurt them, and still manage to win.
