Seriously, Laura and Maggie's brothers have nothing to worry about, their sisters can dish out punishment if and when needed (well, Laura has no problem with that, but Maggie is reluctant to be in fights (despite her family's training in wrestling) but can FINISH THEM when truly needed.) Norman and Norma (Lorna's older siblings) might need to keep a better eye on their sister, since she's the weakest physically growing up (only barely losing to Matilda, who at this age was carrying her baby brother around as well as heavy books and equipment for computers.)
And while it seems as though he's being a bit of a lazy person or a coward, Oliver HAS saved his sister from peril before. When they were young (she was seven and he was eight) one of their parent's crazed fans decided that they wanted a piece of them, and what better piece than their own daughter (since they thought the son was too plain)? The siblings were carefully trotting around the studio with their parents, (their Alfred like butler and driver, William was ill that day) admiring the beautiful garden set their parents were working on that day and the creep snatched both of them up and stuffed them into a waiting car and drove off. They were both terrified, as anyone would be in that situation, but Oliver sucked it up and comforted his sister, promising that he'd protect her and to not be afraid and then when those didn't calm her down, he did what he always did when she was upset and needed comfort: he took whatever situation that frightened her and turned it into a story that had a happy ending. He usually added close calls and daring deeds to spice it up, but he kept it simple so as to not frighten her further, after all, he often did that to help her sleep after having a scary nightmare or was feeling ill and couldn't sleep, they were being taken to who knew where by someone they didn't know.
When their capture finally decided to pull over, they realized that they had captured Oliver too, much to their dislike. They tried to drag him out and leave him there, but he underestimated how determined they were to not be separated and ended up dragging them both out of the car while they tried separating them, actually deciding to pull out a knife to threaten them that if they didn't let go of each other, they'd MAKE them let go. Oliver, despite his fear, tightened his grip on his sister's hand, shouted that the person didn't scare him and that not only would he NOT let go of his sister's hand, but he that wasn't gonna let them lay a finger on his sister.
The kidnapper kept their word, but so did Oliver. Oliver didn't let that blade anywhere near his sister, much to her horror as she watched the adult cut and bruise her brother with the knife. And, no matter how much he screamed in agony and how much it looked like it hurt, he never let go of her hand. Madeline was at her breaking point when the police and their parents finally arrived. Their mom had a shovel from the last scene she had been in (where she was gardening and chatting with a friend) and she took it and smacked the kidnapper with it, repeatedly, while their father quickly gathered her babies and inspected them for wounds, shouting for an EMT to help his son.
Oliver was in the hospital for a week, his friends had been in and out often during that time, but Madeline was there the whole time, not letting go of her brother's hand and crying on occasion and apologizing over and over again. He healed up very well and actually got some good press for once because of the incident, but that changed quickly, and Madeline would not let that slide.
Now, Madeline had been defensive of her 'Olive' before, but that was limited to shouts and swings at the one who sought to slander her brother. But after this, shit got real. This was when she started going bigger, she learned how to fight (from her mom, since she had taken lessons to prepare for some of her movies), she recruited William and Andy Kanker to aid her, heck, Andy actually volunteered his services to help get any jerk who insulted her brother what they deserved after this incident.
Because if there are three things they both fiercely believe in, it's this:
1.) Family and Friends are most important things
2.) any and all who set out to hurt family and friends MUST BE TAKEN DOWN.
3.) (This goes on until they're 17) Ty, Tom and Tim are annoying butt faces
Plus, Andy was a big brother as well, and he'd of done the same thing Oliver did to protect his sisters in a heart beat, so he felt that the nasty comments about him was pretty much an invitation to spread some pain. Madeline helped him once when some model had wrecked his sisters' homemade dress for their mother's birthday because they had claimed to be experts in fashion while not even knowing her name. (since she knew more about fashion than he cared about)
So yeah, after they get married and someone talks crap about anyone they know or care about, they prep dinner while planning that person's doom. They'll also consider going through with the plan as a date.
