Fear Task for
*Long time in the making. I apologize. Was having some issues and problems at home and work. Originally this was supposed to be a comic. Aiyai yai, I feel like a giggly school girl writing this. XD Hope you enjoy it nonetheless*
Shiik stood on the deck of Captain Thorn's skyship, alone. His head raised to the heavens, free to think for a bit after all that had happened. Even though peace was now present, the young man was troubled.
'I already know what my future holds, but what of her? Will she be able to cope without me? Or will she die along with me?'
The words of the Kingseeker, Mikulas and the prophecy that Phasma Ulterior showed, haunted him. The Composer's words were final. But Naika's words also came to him.
At that time, Naika was sharpening his blade with a whet stone before the battle had begun.
""If the Composer made it so, then what do we have to fear?"" Naika smirked.
"Don't you remember? Those are the words you said to me after Souldiercross's hold on me was broken," he stopped to inspect the blade before turning his still smirking face to Shiik.
"Don't tell me you've lost that annoying faith of yours already,". A thorn for words, but he meant well.
Shiik let out a long sigh.
'I can't speak for her but...' he let his hands drop to his sides.
"I'll try. I'm scared to death- but I'll try."
He started softly, the notes coming back to him like a old, cherished memory. In a sense, they were. The melody came back to him in his mind, more fiercely now then ever.
"The universe is yours to compose
With thoughts dancing in the starlight
Steps in tune with the cosmos
It would seem your steps are light
Twirling with the celestial dance
You make your way
Through Fire and Frost
And space dust all the way
Oh, sing with me a song of night
Unborn in Shadow's Womb
The second birth is quite a sight
The one born from the Tomb"
The familiar frustration rose up within him, the song dying stillborn and voice faltering. Then fading into the space he was surrounded by. Silence and emptiness consumed him, his chest aching as he fought to hold back tears.
Suddenly, another voice sung behind him as if from the void.
"Oh, sing with me a song of Light
Of darkness crowned with stars
Nay, not a tune of the Night
But rather of one born from afar."
He finally willed himself to turn around after the shock mostly left him breathless. There stood Tonii with tears streaming down her face, but her smile and voice made them tears of joy. She lingered, slowly stepping toward him with her arms outstretched while he was rooted in place.
"For on this blessed morn or night
A new soul is born into the bright
Life is a precious thing
So it has been told~
Shiik's tears now freely flowed down his face, his gaze fixed solely on her. She finally stood before him, piecing the broken song together. He trembled, putting a shaking hand over his mouth trying not to sob.
"To the joining of two stars becoming One
Behold~
The song of matrimony, now complete, ceased into the void. Shiik still stood before her, silently sobbing, trying to find his voice.
"You...You answered my call..." His voice shook, as he turned his eyes upward and put an arm over them.
"You- Oh, ancients..." he took in a shuddering breath. Tonii merely smiled with joy, beaming at him.
"But if you- I mean, now that we're- How're you- Oh, Ancients... Tonii smiled again as she moved to take his face in her hands.
"Shiik,"
"I-I don't really have anything to offer you-- I mean- After it happens- I-I-I can't guarantee-"
"Shiik!" Tonii grabbed his face, and he ceased for a moment.
"But-but-"
""If the Composer has made it so, what have we to fear?"" She quoted him. Shiik paused, his face frozen in shock.
"Th-then...You're alright with this? With...us?" She smiled all the brighter.
"I will gladly become yours, Shiikuren Elenath...And you, mine. Not even death can take that away," she soothed him. Again, his mouth dropped open at her words. After a brief moment, he laughed softly.
"I don't know what to say- I'm so happy," he covered his face, attempting to wipe away his tears. But she captured them with her own and held them.
"Say yes, beloved," she then kissed him. He reeled at first, then responded with his own lips caressing hers. Sealing the contract between husband and wife. Ending it, they grinned at each other, beaming. Until-
"Oh-wait!! Do we have a witness?!" Tonii nearly hollered. Shiik gasped at the thought.
"CRAP. I didn't even th-"
"OY!!!" they heard a voice from above deck. They looked to see Naika waving at them with the biggest smile they'd ever seen on him.
"YO!!! Don't forget about me!!" They heard from the other side and turned to see Tori also waving her arms, more wildly.
"The hell did you get here?!" Naika retorted.
"Since the beginning!! Duh!! So, when's the wedding?!"
"They're already married, you wench!!!"
"Since when?!"
"The wedding doesn't make the marriage, idiot!! It's just a nice statement of their consummation!!"
Their continued banter went on as they stared before turning to each other and laughing.
