Hiccup from the movie will really surprised that Vikings in the book have already live with dragons for a long time.
And Hiccup in the book will also surprised that Hiccup in the movie didn't speak Dragonese, but he still can communicate with Toothless.
I had read the book How To Train Your Dragon these days.
It's really interesting!
I'd also like to watch the movie base on the original story of the book.
(But okay I admit it: I like Hiccup in the movie MORE.

Also, for all you people who say, "In the movie, Camicazi is called Astrid," it's NOT TRUE. Because:
-In the books, Camicazi is like, eight years old.
-Camicazi belongs to the Bog-Burglar tribe.
-Her dragon Stormfly is a Mood Dragon.
-She has no romantic interest whatsoever in Hiccup and thinks of him as a friend.
-Her personality is barely like Astrid'sβshe acts insane most of the time, runs around hollering about how awesome and talented she is, and is a screaming, always-moving, badass swordfighter.
-And finally, SHE LOOKS PRETTY MUCH NOTHING LIKE ASTRID.

You do know that the characters from book to movie are very different from one another. Just look at Fishlegs, in the book he's described as almost dangerously skinny. He's ALLERGIC to dragons. He also is a Berserker. And we all know how movie Fishlegs is so...yeah. Very different.

I've seen both movie and book, and althought I like both, I prefer the book a bit for the fact it doesn't have romance (at least in the three first)...

Fishlegs' dragon is called Horrorcow
Horrorcow is vegetarian

I love the book AND the movies equally the books get better as you go into them, I got to admit though I'm more of a fan of the movies too, but it would be cool in Hiccup could speak dragonese like in the books. I'm sorry you can't get the rest of the books I just finished Β How to twist a dragon's tale which is the fifth book. I wish that Astrid existed in the books Β I mean I like Camicazi but I kinda like Astrid more.Β
And Snoutlout is such a jerk in the books. At least in the movies it seems like he cares about his cousin at least a little under all that bravdo.Β

Β I've read the first five or so books after watching the movie, and I was equally surprised. I thought both the movie Toothless and Hiccup were slightly better characterized. Hiccup speaking Draconese seemed odd in the books - Vikings lived with dragons, so why was speaking with them banned? In the movie he actually had to make very first steps in the field of even trying to live with dragons, let alone communicate with them. On the other hand, I miss book Toothless' constant pickering and arguing with Hiccup.
