That was one of my final project for my sumi-e class. Nobody seemed to like it though, but I submitted it anyway because I loved the gothic and slightly creepy feel of it.And yes, my kanji sucks. I can actually do some decent calligraphy, but only after a LOT of practice and with sumi, you don't get a second chance to make a better calligraphy on your final piece. Bah. Turned out okay at least.

i like the japanese, but not entirely japanese, feel to it. Β it is different, NEW.
personally, a little more red might have balanced it better (?). Β i think, at least.

That's very nice of you and I'm honored by your proposition, but must decline. I don't have time to work on my own peices these days, let alone do collaborations. Besides I'm sure you can find better sumi-e artists around here for what you have in mind.

I don'T get the gothic feeling sorry, but I do really like the elegant, stretchy, flowy curves of the plant, seems like you have a guud hand for such a job..
The calligraphy looks neat for me, but I am not an expert I wouldn't know, I just like.
Could you tell me what the kanjis are? I only can read "death and ... life", don't know the 3rd kanji. Thanks.

I honestly can't recall... I've lost most of my japanese over the years - not practising enough, you know.
