I am a jealous lover
I am a tortured soul
I am a ruthless god
I am manipulative
I am all-mighty
I am powerful
I am omnipotent
I am murderous
I am loving
I make sweet dreams
I make terrifying nightmares
I make tender moments
I make anguished deaths
I am the one
I am their god
I am a writer.

I can make all the fairytales,
I can make a perfect world,
I can create legends that double as lessons; that have a seed of truth,
I can give little girls the message that love conquers all,
I can tell the little boys that they can save the day,
I can tell children that good is stronger than evil, that the two have a clear-cut line,
and fill their heads with clichΓ©s and lies.
But I won't.
I'll make a darker, truer world, one filled with:Β
Secrets,
Unrequited love,
Forlorn goodbyes that are forevermore,
Real people,
Sin,
Failure,
Hate,Β
Tourtured souls,
Pretentious tyrants,
Rebellion,
And the clear-cut line turning blurred.
But in the middle of a swirling whirlpool of anger, sadness, fear, sin, hate, and death,
there is a glowing beacon in the darkness.
Hope. That's the message I want to send.

I have to admit, now i can bring this poem up when my family and friends argue that i am not a goddess. And then their arguement will be invalid. Writers really do control what happens in the world... well... in story worlds... maybe.

This is just fabulous, and I can't believe how much it rings truth to my ears whenever I read it. I read it once, twice, and it never gets old. That's what your readers love about this. Being a writer, I am all this. I really am, except I never thought of it this way. Thanks for making me think this way. I guess, I really rule my character's lives. I am even more powerful than I thought, when I think of it this way.

You're welcome. It has a lot of meaning. I never really found out what I was - the only thing I said was that I was a writer. But then I began to wonder ... what is it that makes me a writer? Do I just write words like that, or is there something else, something more than that?

I noticed this on the front page...looks like maybe in 2010 and I still think about this poem from time to time two years later. It's truly beautiful work, excellent job! The poem describes a writer perfectly!
