Description (Bottom View)

A pine bowl I made recently. This was turned from a blank I received from my local woodturning guild from out monthly raffle table. It was not a pretty blank... but I'm happy with the result. The blank was quite checked, and clearly was not sealed or dried properly when it was originally harvested.

I combated the checking with sawdust and CA. I'm not sure of the species, altho i do know it is pine... white would be my guess. It is about 10" in diameter and 3-4" deep. It will serve well as a dinner bowl for buns etc.

Thank you,

I've played with a couple different burning techniques - a pyography machine I borrowed, and a couple of different brands I made myself. The wood burner seems to be the way to go, due to versatility, although the ease and speed of the brand sure make it appealing, especially for larger pieces, as I find it gives it a nice look.

Still can't believe you managed to make a bowl out of pine! - I'm speechless!

Thank you! I did make the walls a bit thicker than I might have liked - probably around 3/4 inch thick.
