Well, everyone. This is it. This right here is it. I never would’ve thought that it would happen so soon, but now it has. After 11+ years of activity here on Deviant Art, this right here is my final new drawing post on the whole website. Sonic the Hedgehog, Gumball Watterson, and my character Star Starlight all packing up almost all of my past work on this website for what will be their brand new home on a different website, this different website being Newgrounds.

I know that moving away from Deviant Art after such a long time might not sound like the most exciting news just on the surface alone, but after how hard the website has been embracing AI images lately (which has now gotten to the point of them actively promoting AI users making thousands of dollars from selling what is literal theft and also a tipping point for making fake news seem believable to the old grandpas & grandmas that they’re very clearly targeting), and also after I learned about this website’s parent company Wix and how they’re based in Israel (who I learned from an IRL pro-palestine protest a week ago has been committing 70+ years of genocide despite what the October 7 conspirators want you to believe [Wix has even fired workers of theirs who pointed this fact out as well]), I cannot, in good conscience, continue to keep relegating my online work to being exclusively seen on such a dying, sinking ship as what Wix has morphed what used to be my favorite website into. I need a new step forward to save my career, and that new step is a company like Newgrounds, who have a rule against AI images and hosted a pro-Palestine project not too long ago as well.

Granted, I don’t think I’ll be leaving entirely just yet; even though I’m not posting new drawings anymore, I will stick around for a few things: I’ll keep my account up for now for archival’s sake and still be commenting & moderating the comments I get (especially from whoever may see this and try to label Palestinians as terrorists, which WILL get your comment deleted and WILL get you blocked, no exceptions nor excuses, so even trying that shit here would just be a waste of your own goddamn time, motherfuckers). I’ll also still be moderating my Sonic-Gumball-FC group to the best of my ability (I might even make my own Discord server for that as well). I’ll keep my CORE Membership going for all of the time it has left as well, because I’m using already received points for that and not any of my actual money. And I’ll also keep in touch with the friends I made here just in case you all decide to move somewhere else too (and where you go). Maybe there’s a very small chance that dA may pick back up somehow (which would have to be from Wix selling the site off to whoever is anti-AI and anti-genocide) and that would get me to release new content here again, but I’m really not gonna hold my breath for that happening anytime soon. Better safe by not staying on the sinking ship in the volcano beneath us than sorry about it the hard way and going down with it.

And I do have one more thing to announce as well, and that is in regards to when this drawing right here actually gets released on Newgrounds. I decided to delay that for three days, starting on April 6, because that actually happens to be my older brother’s 29th birthday, and I figured bringing this drawing there on such an occasion would be a lot more meaningful than a day & date release with this website’s release of this drawing happening just before then. The process for bringing a lot of my Deviant Art work to Newgrounds also got delayed to April 26 so I can give myself more time to set the schedules up (posting 40 compilations each from Friday to Sunday). How I plan on going about this move is simple:
- All of my August 2017 - March 2024 tablet art on dA will be grouped together in compilation posts of 2-10 images depending on the subject matter.
- All of my new art that I post afterwards will all be individual single pieces each to signify that they are in fact new.
- All of my 2013-2015 laptop/Wii U gamepad art and my 2015-2018 paper art will be grouped together in “look-back” blogs.
- All of my stories and Fake Licensed Game covers will also be blog posts as well.
- And I’m also gonna carry over both ‘The MajorStarlight Upcoming Release Bulletin Board’ and ‘The Bin’ as blog posts too, because the former helps me keep track of what I actually have coming up that I’ve never shared before and the latter sets boundaries for what to not talk to me about for one reason or another (mostly sexual harassers, murderers, transphobes, ableists, etc.).
- I will NOT, however, carry over my status updates and journals that are news-based, like trailer reactions and debacles surrounding stuff like Activision and Scott Cawthon and Rooster Teeth and MatPat, to name a few; I will still bring over my anniversary-based drawings, however, once again as part of compilations with other drawings.

Just before I go, I have one more thing to comment on as well. I’ve seen a lot of other people who post drawings about themselves leaving this website, and all of them make it out to be a bad thing that they feel they have to move out, which I do totally understand considering how this website went from one of the best art-sharing websites to one of the worst. I, however, don’t want to portray it that way; I see a move to another website like Newgrounds as a way to open up new doors for me! New opportunities, new ways to share my work around with people, a new gateway into what my future in general could hold! And that’s why I drew Star, Sonic, and Gumball smiling here as they pack up my work. This is a move that I’m personally excited for, not just for the fact that I’m moving out of such a shadow of what used to be my online home, but for what my new online home could actually mean for me going forward! Yes, it is disappointing to see what Deviant Art has become; yes, it is disappointing on the surface that I’m leaving this account behind after 11+ years (at least, in terms of actual content posting), but I also see a brand new audience ahead of me, waiting to see what I have to offer, waiting to show me what they have to offer… waiting to maybe… just maybe… make my life in general brighter than I could ever have possibly realized!

And just before I go, I have only one more thing left that I really want to say to you all still reading this right now: Regardless of whether you’ve been with me since the very beginning, or have just become a new fan of me and are looking back at my work in previous years, I only have one more thing to say to you all: Thank you! I cannot possibly thank any of you enough for sticking by me after such a long time, dating all the way back to just after my 15th birthday in 2012 when I was BlueHedgehog1997 all the way up to just before my brother’s 29th birthday in 2024 after my rename two years ago into MajorStarlight! Even that amount of time and that many fans & friends is still so unbelievable to me to this very day, and none of it would ever have been possible and have made my life shine brighter if it wasn’t for you (even with many, many bumps in the road like whenever I got dogpiled in certain comment sections over shit that never deserved it like my ‘Anti-Opression’ drawing where Sonic simply states he hates oppression as clearly stated by the Sonic Adventure instruction manual, or shared something that I knew would be controversial and cause many disagreements & arguments going in like my ‘I’m Afraid of Americans’ drawing where I describe how corrupt to the core America is, or would post something one year and absolutely regret it years later to the point of dropping it in my private Storage lot [which I’m sure you have experienced to if you’ve also been around for at least a decade or two] like my Frustrated Fanfic Reader series where I pulled a Nostalgia Critic on others’ fanfics [a mindset I’ve absolutely grown out of all these years later]). I hope you all wish me luck on this brand new venture, I wish you all luck on whatever brand new ventures you go on to (if you actually decide to, that is), and I hope to see you all again and meet the potential new fans that I will make on Newgrounds !
