Finished... more or less. If his chest still looks too feminine let me know and I'll keep fiddling with it. I believe that if there is still a problem it has to do with the shading I did and I will continue to work with it until I get it right, being the first time I drew a topless guy, I promise I won't take offense if it isn't quite right.

That being said:

OK, seeing how I did a contest, I figured that it was time to try to find one to enter. Maybe just to remind myself what it is like on the other end of the stick, and so I found xx-rin's contest at [link] , and I figured that it looked like fun. ^__^

That is reason one why I drew this. Reason two, I was recently asked about how to draw male and female torsos and it dawned on me that I have NEVER drawn a topless guy! Yep, never... I know, I must have been living in a hole. So anyway, I decided that while trying out the contest, I would practice doing a male figure.

About the image: Kojisai's element is ice and water, and there is a good reason for that, so naturally, that is the element I chose. Being brought up in a respectable family, he was taught how to sumi paint (and play a flute) because in wealthy and well to do families, it is generally a requirement that boys practice all the arts, not just martial arts, and so the brushes he is holding are sumi brushes with ink that turns to ice. ^__^ He is in his tiger form because it is cool looking... and because to tap into magic, he needs to tap into that side of himself, rather than the human energy. This picture is pretty, but more importantly, it could happen, he COULD do something like that. He is the only character I have who could though so that is why he was chosen for the contest.

This is a scene from his youth when he actually is the age he looks, before any wars or fighting, when he felt that he had the world in the palm of his hands. On the one hand he was half human: a prodigy, already given the job of being the Emperor's top general and guard as well as adviser once his training was complete. He was close friends with the Emperor, being that they were about the same age. He had lots of friends and plenty to be happy about. On the other hand, he was half Samo-Yan, which is a forest guardian, and in this world, he is an imperial prince. He received top notch education, training and resources. He was taught about the manipulation and use of magic, and made his very nice scandium sword under the instruction of the best Samo-Yan swordsmith. he had a brother he looked up to and beautiful Samo-Yan girls all pursuing him. Both sides were basically fighting over him, trying to convince him to stay with them. What wasn't there to love about life? Here he is in the Samo-Yan realm, learning and playing with the use of ice magic. All magics require an object to travel through, and usually he uses his sword, but here, he picked up a couple brushes... He is probably showing off to a girl and that would be why he is topless. I might also add that before he met Kanite, he was a bit of a flirt. XP
