A deep drone erupts from the heart of the ship, deafening officers and crew toiling at the reactor chamber. Rumbling eruptions of thunder and lightning leak through hull and armor plating, running along wiring and conduits along the length of the vessel. Its keel is buckling, bulkheads moaning under pressures sustained and at last, the claxon of the Hyperdrive goes off at the CIC.

Through what seems like an effort of pure sheer will, the men at the helm steer the ship to the rift, a yawning chasm in space and time opening, through which flickering red and black announce the entrance to a different dimension. No regular window has opened, no maelstrom of brilliant color, instead rugged cataphracts of the transition gleam in sharp contrast of golden light and black shadow, shapeless forms dancing on all screens, leaving the crewmen speechless and petrified. They all see the end.

Sometime, somewhere, it is as though they awaken from ageless slumber.
Strikes of red lightning, the fire, and death are all but distant memories of a nightmare they shared. But nothing tells of these events. The tear in the ship has been mended, the chaos resolved. It lies silent, peacefully, engines humming along with the calm breaths of some still sleeping.
Laplace's Demon has come to the other side, to a place far removed from physical reality. Deep in Hyperspace, carried by streams and tides of spacial energy, it has found an entangled forest of cosmic growth. Roots and tendrils stretch toward the vessel, carefully avoiding the hull, like its some living thing inspecting the intruder with vigilant care.

Amid a vast growth of unknown purpose and design, the Laplace's Demon has been left stranded. There's no sense of direction from anywhere – until the first scientists aboard reach the recovered drone in their cargo-bay. The Centauri Artifacts is still sending its transmission. Now stronger than ever, waves with a clear bearing. A course lies ahead, the only course the ship can take. At the captain's command, the craft is set in motion, slowly, as the crew recovers. This is a course to a new frontier. A journey into the truly unknown.

As the first shock of their arrival dissipates, the crew grows eager to learn more of the new realm they have entered. What to do on a journey through a living forest in the vast ocean of Hyperspace?

1. Take samples
Rarely if ever have reliable reports been made about the existence of native entities to Hyperspace. This growth, be it a remnant of ancients or something entirely of this dimension must offer great scientific value. Samples should be taken in an attempt to bring them back.

2. Attempt contact
According to those who witnessed the First Ones during the Shadow War, anything living in Hyperspace is most likely part of an ancient civilization which sometime in the past settled this realm. Contacting these potential First Ones could yield wondrous discoveries.

3. Remain passive
Be it a natural inhabitant of Hyperspace or something brought by First Ones – it may be very dangerous to disturb. Best to find a way out of the entanglement without coming into any contact with the growths at all.
