I like how you pulled off the scales.
AlsoΒ i think the watermark (while protecting your art) devalues the enjoyment of this piece as it pops exactly on the head (the focal point).

Yes indeed. It's been with me since I discovered aspects of myself that I never knew before, and it was also resting in my subconscious for years. Know thyself first, before you embark on knowing the entire world without. The world within hides valuable treasures for us than we can ever imagine. As Carl Jung himself stated:Β "The alchemists, who in their own way knew more about the nature of the individuation process than we moderns do, expressed this paradox through the symbol of the Ouroboros, the snake that eats its own tail. The Ouroboros has been said to have a meaning of infinity or wholeness. In the age-old image of the Ouroboros lies the thought of devouring oneself and turning oneself into a circulatory process, for it was clear to the more astute alchemists that the prima materia of the art was man himself. The Ouroboros is a dramatic symbol for the integration and assimilation of the opposite, i.e. of the shadow. This 'feed-back' process is at the same time a symbol of immortality, since it is said of the Ouroboros that he slays himself and brings himself to life, fertilizes himself and gives birth to himself. He symbolizes the One, who proceeds from the clash of opposites, and he therefore constitutes the secret of the prima materia which unquestionably stems from man's unconscious."
Keep it up Melissa! You're a great talent!

Ouroboros is a very interesting symbol, indeed!! Maybe, If humanity would be able to bring back the study of hermetic philosophy, we could solve many social issues such as unknowing of ourselves. I'll tell you that, 3 years ago I started to study alchemy and hermetic philosophy by my own, many had happened since, Carl Jung and his red book,Β Flamel, Aleister Crowley, The book of Thoth, the Greeks, Socrates, etc... and now I'm illustrating my own tarot. It's been a hard work let me tell you, and I've seen that the ouroboros is super important and is present in many cards. Glad you like my work
Soon, I'll show you my tarot.Β

Melissa, thanks for the compliment. My work tends to polarise people so someone who obviously has real artistic talent acknowledging my work is a bonus. Β Love the planetary work, very graphic approach and a really imposing outcome - great to see people kicking ass with monotone, nothing quite grabs the attention like some black and white.

Yeah, I know what you mean, people usually getΒ ill-at-ease whenever finding "horror" art (which I prefer to call "honest" art). I agree with you about monotone, I find all the answers I'm looking for in black, white and what's in the middle of them. Maybe it's just a comfort zone and I have to start using colors and hues, but not now. Thank you very much for your visit and comment, you are a great artist and I feel honoured to read your opinion about my work.Β

Melissa, you don't have to thank me, visiting your page was enlightening, I didn't realise that other people had similar interests and approaches to their own creative output. Your mono prints are outstanding, way beyond anything I could create, I never had any formal Art education so pens, pencils, a bit of ink and throwing around a bit of wash is as far as my output goes. I make the most of it any way I can. I do love Art history though and your prints really capture the essence on Egon Schiele, even if it is a coincidence you should check out his work - he was absolutely prescient - a shame he died so soon........

Hey, thanks for passing by and taking the time to comment. I find your artistic expression very interesting and maybe because we both are into anatomy in black and white. I studied art for 4 years straight, then I had personal problems so I stopped creating every day, I could only sketch few things once in a blue moon. It is different now that I have the chance to create art again, I used to add colours to my art, but now I just see all in monochrome. I know Schiele!! An art teacher introduced me to his art just after I showed her this work haha, she told me almost exactly the same words you wrote. Yeah, a shame his passionate life ended too soon.Β

Hey, thank your very much, I'm glad you like it. It's called Uroboros, and is an antique common symbol used mainly in alchemy, it represents the introspection, cyclicality, life and death, self-destruction but reborn (kind of phoenix), eternal return, etc...
