Oil on stretched canvas - Oil on stretched Canvas 22" x 28”This is a commission for a friend. It was a fun challenge painting to someone else’s specification and to a timeline.

How lovely is this, my friend...so much details and meticulousness...the beautiful kimono of the geisha and her accessories,so very realistic..;I like the choice of the colors , You used , as well...the Japanese cherry trees blossoming in all their splendor...the myriads of tiny delicate petals(I can almost smell their sweet parfume )drawing like a path of Joy and Happiness to be guided for the Geisha...superb the depth , You put in the painting; last and least I find the 4 little (lampions)lanterns looking ravishing, maybe symbol for the 4 seasons ...I am in the ambiance of springtime, with all its essences, and it feels good! ...Your friend is lucky to possess this painting of Your's now, dear Allen!

Thank you for your kind comments. I think I did get carried away a bit with the cherry blossoms, that was the request of the customer and I enjoyed making it work. My original plan for the kimono was to have a sky and cloud pattern but this turned out somewhat better.
The four lanterns, one for each season, that’s a great idea, although not my intention. I added them to make the background more interesting and provide an addition source of light.
I hope you have a wonderful spring, I know how much you love it, it is not long now. Where I am it is still hot and humid. That means more time inside painting

...well, springtime is still far away, even if we didn't have any "true" winter, just rain and rain and always cloudy and dark...Yes, I am eager, that the first birds will sing happily and the first grren buds will shop up! ...At Your place , still hot and humid, better than cold and humid
