This years contribution to the Anthro Calendar. www.anthrocalendar.com/The theme for 2013 is 'Cultures' and I was given 'Aboriginal Australia.' The animals featured are Red Kangaroo, Black Cockatoo, Bilby, and Echidna. They were originally going to be up on the wall as paintings with the Python. But the scene I went with was too cute not to do, after it was suggested. ^^

Many many thanks to pandemoniumfire who gave me a great amount of help from an Australian's perspective, which I'm extremely grateful for. (I feel like I almost steered toward cliché with the background painting... I meant for it to just be a python, but it's giving off Rainbow serpent vibes. ^^)

Inspired. A very restful and contemplative piece.
There's a mood here of comfort and quiet companionship and of a space which is sacred, but also inviting. Also the trance-like relaxation which comes from social grooming [the echidna painting on the 'roo.] I imagine a quiet sort of sing-song chant accompanying.

I love kangaroos... To this day, I find it so odd that I know so little about the traditional culture of the country I live in.

I love echidnas, haha! Actually, this piece is very beautifully done, from the pose and balance to the incorporation of aboriginal-style painting with these animals. I like the atmosphere, and for some reason I really love that slanted shadow. Great work!

Absolutely gorgeous lighting effects - it seems so stiflingly hot, with even a heavy warmness in the shade. That python painting is a perfect addition to this <3

This is just so beautiful ;v; The scene is both cute and mystical at the same time, and I really adore all the small details and textures you put into this, like the paint textures and the handprints on the walls. The Echidna / Bibly are really adorable, and I like the sleepy Kangeroo's face
