Description The image and text were created under the impression of a wonderful story "Beyond the Wall of Sleep" by marvelous writer Howard Phillips Lovecraft

As a former intern at the mental hospital, I often find myself pondering the strange case of Joe Slater, a man whose existence seemed to straddle the boundaries of our known reality and the unfathomable depths of cosmic terror. It was a dark chapter in my career, one that continues to haunt my thoughts even now, years later. Slater was a creature of the mountains, a product of the rugged Catskill region, where the laws of men held little sway and the shadows whispered of ancient, nameless horrors. From the moment he was brought to our institution, there was an air of unease surrounding him, a sense that he was not simply a man, but something else entirely.

His crime, though brutal and unforgivable, seemed almost incongruous with his outward appearance - a harmless facade of stupidity that belied the primal darkness that lurked within. Yet it was during his confinement that the true nature of Slater's torment would reveal itself. Night after night, he would be consumed by violent fits, his words twisted and nonsensical yet hinting at visions of unimaginable magnitude. He spoke of green edifices of light, of oceans vast and uncharted, of shadowy mountains that pierced the very fabric of reality itself. But above all, he spoke of a blazing entity - a being of pure malevolence that mocked and tormented him, driving him to the brink of madness.

The doctors, perplexed by Slater's condition, could offer no solace nor explanation. How could a man of such limited intellect conjure visions so otherworldly, so beyond the scope of human understanding? It was a question that haunted us all, a mystery that seemed destined to remain unsolved.

But it was in the depths of Slater's madness that I stumbled upon a revelation - a device of my own creation, a conduit for the transmission of thought itself. Heedless of the ethical implications, I attached myself to Slater as he lay on the precipice of death, hoping to unravel the secrets that lay hidden within his fractured mind.

What I encountered there, in the recesses of his consciousness, defied all logic and reason. A being of pure light, untethered from the confines of mortal flesh, reached out to me across the void, its thoughts intermingling with my own in a dance of cosmic significance.

It spoke of worlds beyond our own, of dimensions unexplored and truths too terrible to comprehend. And as Slater drew his final breath, I understood - this being, this entity of light, had been trapped within the confines of his shattered mind, a prisoner of flesh and bone.

With Slater's passing, the transmission ceased, leaving me alone with the weight of what I had witnessed. And yet, as I gazed up at the night sky, I could not shake the feeling that somewhere beyond the reaches of our understanding, a battle raged on - a battle between forces beyond our comprehension, fought amidst the stars themselves.

For in the heavens above, a new star blazed with an intensity that defied explanation, its brilliance a testament to the cosmic struggle that had played out in the darkness. And though it faded with the passing of time, its memory lingers still - a haunting reminder of the horrors that lurk just beyond the edge of our perception.
