Painting the Air

Can air be painted? The answer is yes.

1. The literal air we are breathing in. A painting can depict the movement and temperature of air, atmospheric distance and weather conditions.

2. Aura, a synonym of air. The demeanor of a character or the mood of the scenario that is painted can be read by the details the artist chooses to give or omit. Even the air of the artist can be felt from his/her work if enough devotion is put into it.

3. To air one's opinion in a visual art is often the purpose of creating the picture.

4. Air, or an aria. A elaborate piece of music sung in solo or with accompaniment. You can even make your viewers hear a certain familiar piece of music in their mind if the mood of the picture is apparent.

There comes a time when "your painting looks just like a photo! " ceases to be a compliment.
