Probably the best episode of Doctor who ever. The 12th Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, is trapped in his confession dial, moments after watching his best friend Clara Oswald die. Scared, alone and slowly stalked by a creature from his own nightmares, in order to escape, he must punch through an Azbanthium wall for 4.5 billion years.

This is my favourite episode of all time. Not only is Capaldi the best Doctor (IMO), but he carries this 'one-man' show as if it's the easiest thing in the world, and his acting never falters. The horrific reality the Doctor finds himself in, a killer puzzle box designed to frighten him to death and confess truths he's never told, is palpable. The atmosphere of dread and despair is beautifully portrayed through the music, the set design, the dialogue and mystery of the plot that slowly unfolds throughout the episode.

It also hits hard in the themes of death, grief, depression and loneliness with the Azbanthium wall acting as a metaphor for beating these feelings, getting through them and breaking free. It may hurt, it may feel pointless and it would be so easy to let it win, to lie down and give up, but if you keep fighting, keep chipping away at that wall, then eventually, however long, you'll break out, you'll overcome it, you'll win.
