Is it that area next to the Lincoln tunnel (weehaken park)?. How did you get up to that elevation.

this was taken from Kennedy Blvd East, which sits on top of the cliffs right along the water line. If you lookup cross streets Hamilton and Kennedy Blvd, you should be able to find it. Best place to catch a skyline of NYC

not impossible, usually the sun starts to come up over the buildings about 30-45 minutes after official sunrise time... but can get some cool silhouettes before that time depending on type of weather...

Do you know if there are good places from high up to shoot down into? I like Top of the Rocks and ESB, but both are quite generic now. I was hoping to find a place that I can set up a tripod but most places in NY dont allow for that somehow....

The highest places I know of are buildings with limited access. I know it sounds kind of silly, but if you were to do a little research on some of the buildings you should be able to find out who manages the property. From there, you could possibly sweet talk them into giving you roof access for a 'school photo project' or something of the nature. if approached right, I could see them giving you a quick tour

honestly, some of your best vantages will be in Brooklyn, Green Point and Williamsburg

lots of waterfront with bridges and interesting foreground. also some really hipster buildings and art
