It's before sunrise and this female fox has just returned from an evening of hunting. While her young kits stay inside the den and enjoy the fruits of her labor, she heads back out into the cold, briefly pausing atop a large rock to survey her surroundings. She will continue these efforts almost non-stop for the next few months. This hard working mom has double the work to do, as she doesn't have a mate helping her raise her young.
