Description
She was a childhood friend, relative and rival of Roronoa Zoro. She was the daughter of Shimotsuki Koushirou and a descendant of Wano Country's famed Shimotsuki Family. Her presumed death at the age of eleven drove much of Zoro's ambitions as a swordsman, including his development of the Three Sword Style. It later turned out she was not only alive but had been split into Tashigi and Kuina’s darker desires made manifest as one of Byakuō’s KATANA knights being ranked number 5. She helps to massacre the Kozuki clan while Byakuō does battle with Shin but fails to get the Road Poneglyph and Pluton due to Foxy, Blackbeard Pirates, Kaido, and Vile Familia interference. She later faces Zoro and he is forced to kill her as her crimes were too irredeemable- not before giving back her sword.

Before the accident, outwardly, Kuina was always self-assured and confident, bordering on arrogant toward fellow trainees. This, however, belied her fears—shaped by Koushirou's beliefs—that grown women could not match men in strength. As she dreamed of being the world's greatest swordsman, she came to resent her own body as an obstacle, and especially dreaded the onset of puberty. These factors led to a complicated relationship between her and Roronoa Zoro, whom she often mocked as weak but simultaneously envied for being male. Eventually, on hearing him rebuke her fears and assert his own, egalitarian views on swordsmanship, she accepted him as both friend and rival.

After living with Byakuō, her mindset was corrupted to a much more villainous attitude. She feigned kindness towards the Kozuki before ruthlessly backstabbing them- killing Momonosuke’s retainers before his eyes before killing him as well- due to being an improper copy of the Seiryu Fruit that lacked its true immortality- while also setting up Yamato to take the fall for the homicide. She also takes advantage of Zoro’s guilt and hesitation. When on the verge of defeat, she has the gall to plead for her friend’s forgiveness. She is also very sadistic and cruel, mocking and tormenting others.

She has Advanced Armament/Conquerors/Observation Haki, Wind/Fire/Darkness/Lightning Nature Haki, Framing Justice Haki, Divine Haki, Injustice Haki, and Sorcery Haki. She ate the true Dog-Dog: Okuchi no Makami, which unlike its forced copy- is Fire-based with various pyro-based techniques. She is also a skilled swordsman but not as much as the other top 4.
