Description
Previously in the OTHERWORLD...
"Pei went into Merlin and granted him the Author's Light, and Merlin went in search of the Knight."
"Meanwhile the Knight forsaw his death was imminent, and so wedded with Alexandria to bear children and restore him generations later."
"The field was set - Merlin on one side, the Knight on the other, in a battle to determine the fate of the world."
The Battle of Riverrea, January 17, 1509
The Knight's forces covered the plains north of Ravi, and the Knight stood at the head. Within the village was Merlin, leading a counter assault against the Dreaded Dark Lord.
The Knight stood above the mob, his head raised high and his scrutinizing eye tearing through the hearts of his targets. "This will be easy. They have no hope."
The Knight's forces were chanting his name, after all these years he will have done it. People want him. The Knight turned his head to the sky and shouted "Who's worthless now, brother?!" with a cackle. The Dark Forces cheered for their master. With a wave of his hand, the Armies of the Knight stormed down the hillside to the village.
Merlin's spell wouldn't hold long. They had to be ready to strike. The plan was for the villagers to hold off the attack long enough for Merlin to reach the Knight and shatter his crown.
In the end, the Knight's forces were able to overpower the villagers, but Merlin pushed forward. As he closed in, the Knight prepared for battle.
Then they fought. It was a battle of legendary proportions, the Knight swung his blade, and Merlin blocked. Merlin would cast a curse, and the Knight would counter the spell. They were evenly matched. Then Merlin did something unexpected.
"I'm sorry, Hedwig."
The Knight stopped. His sword slipped from his hand. He was sorry? How could Pei be? He didn't understand.
Merlin took this chance to strike the crown of the Knight. The Knight fell, and looked to Merlin, pulling his last bits of strength to ask the question he always wondered.
"Why me?"
Merlin looked down at his foe's body. For others it was a celebration, but not for him. It felt as though the end of the world was sealed.
It was indeed.
