Description Purpose: So, seeings I'm more than a little bit rusty... and been on a design kick lately, I felt like it was about time I challenged myself to do something new to bring my skills back up to par. This is the second installment in that series of challenges.

------

Background: Basically, the idea was to create an informational poster for a typeface using a limited range of colours (there's two here and only typographical elements. Today's lucky candidate is Comic Sans MS, one I'm sure we're all abundantly familiar with. In this case, I opted to use the following characters to form the basis of the background: Q, B, %, 4, i, all in the normal weight. Body copy is taken directly from the Microsoft website .

------

Job spec: 2 Colour Pantone spot, 30"x40" @ 300dpi for gloss stock

------

Others in the series: Type Study - Neue Helvetica , Type Study - AdobeGaramondPro

I totally forgot that the name of the creator is Connare XD In french that's always shocks everyone to hear him.

If you want to see What does it mean , you can check it out with "Connard" in google trad.

But, after all, I really like your composition.

It's all just glyphs with varying colours and opacity didn't use any background or anything special, just glyphs.

I always thought Comic Sans MS was hopelessly disgusting (I liked it when i was nine but two years later i started to hate it) I find it dull, without dinamysm (hope i spelled that correctly)... but then I find this, and the only thing I can't say now is: you're admirable, you sure tamed that font!

Very clean and well-presented layout Not my favourite font, in fact I don't think I've used it twice, and none at all this year. But the colours definitely work well with its kind-of-childish style. Nicely done, Ben.

I always find it a nice challenge to try and use something so horrific in a legitimate front. Thanks for the comment, KTbeans :]

Times New Roman. Ugh. Beat that.

See, Times New Roman is a legitimate font; it has more than enough place in modern typography. It's just because it's the default on the majority of platforms as a Serif face (ie. Times New Roman on Windows, Times on OS[X], Nimbus on POSIX) that it's become kinda passé to look at in its default pairings without custom kerning/leading and precise anti-aliasing. For screen it isn't ideal; the aspect of it is too small to be effective for much more than Display, however, as a body face for print it is hard to beat with open fonts.

The glyphs are pretty timeless in Times, I think we'll see a lot more of it to come. >_>

I've been told by my tutor that if I ever use this font I'll be kicked off the course.
I don't particularly hate this font, I just hate it when it is incorrectly used, there are only very few situations where comic sans is allowed to be used properly, whenever I see it on a newsletter or a brochure my face will show a sign of disgust.

Even though this is Comic Sans MS -- a font which is usually hated by a lot of people (including me) rather than loved, I like the way this turned out! Very nice shades of piiiiink. Nice work.

I cannot feel good about that font no matter how hard I try. Great attempt though trying to persuade me with this.

Comic Sans is supposed to be very good for dyslexics, apparently it's easy-to-read feature has really helped some to improve.

Well there's my random and useless fact for the day over with.

PINKPINKPINK...
Also, as I said, I never thought Comic Sans could look awesome, but obviously, I was wrong.
Takes an awesome designer to tame such a font.
