Dis is mah RP ROTG OC Iris Dementia Romanov. She is a human and goth and she doesn't have any friends at skool becuz they make fun of her is like 15 and still believes Santa Claus and other fiary tales. Because she still believes, she sees Jack Frost and gets to like fight with him and date him and stuffs. Her favorite season is winter and they both met at the frozen lake where Jack died and it was like love at first site. They also get to have smex like every single nite unless she gets captured by Pitch, then he has to go save her.
Don't not steal my OC! If you want to use her in a fanfiction, plz credit me or else!

Anyway, somebody brought up a point about the number of human girls that somehow manage to see Jack and the other Guardians because "OMG THEY STILL BELIEVE!!!!!"
I don't know which is worse. This human chick or the cupid/fire nymph ripoffs

I know it's sp stupid I mean if Jack is what 300 something years old and there are hundreds of spirits out there why would he choose to date someone who is going to age, forget him and die when he could have an imortal person yet why the hell is a 15 something chick having sex all the time

Let's not forget the always hilarious "extra Bennet" child OC that generally gets with Jack.
I mean, I don't mind an OC being related to Jamie, its the fact that generally the person uses that to make their OC believe in Jack so their OC can screw him.
And that's another thing: if he's dead, he probably wouldn't have circulation enough for an erection. Just sayin'

I've seen that too and I found the idea of Jamie having "an older sister, yet she was never shown in the movie" to be a bright red flag screaming Mary Sue.

There are VERY FEW good ones that are with Jack. Since I am nervous about making my precious babies Sues, the one OC that would even have a chance gets with my friend's character. I hardly ever go for the character that's getting all the bitches/Sues for the big reason of the Mary Sues being more abundant than the rarely seen good OC. This is also why I don't usually RP with anyone outside of my own little group. (This rant got a little bit longer than expected, and I apologize.)

And, actually, the Sues and the Sue Nazis scared me out of pairing her with Jack. Just after I saw the movie was hunting through OCs to see "Dos" and Don'ts" and the reoccuring factor was "Paired with Jack=Insta!Sue" so I got scared into either killing her off before they got anywhere or pair her with a different character. I decided to try to pair her with Bunnymund, then pretty much found the same thing. So now, she's either dead before the film's finish or paired with my friend's character.
I'll be honest I didn't mean to rant that much. Can I blame it on built up feelings of aggression toward Sue-Authors?

I think if your character gets paired with Jack and it builds up slowly with more details and realistic reasons and not the usual, "IT WUZ LUV AT FURST SITE OMG!!!", then I don't think you have to worry about her being a Sue.
but yes, Sue authors ruin everything.

Well, they've pretty much known each other since the character, Fate, was created (around 200 hundred years) and they've only really saw each other as friends. It starts out more as the annoying sibling-eque realtionship then (very slowly) would've escalated to the whole romance thing. Unfortunately, Fate is extremely weak, as people have (for the most part) stopped believing in fate, and is actually pretty useless in combat. She dies by falling out of the sleigh because one of Pitch's minions hit it (Originally, it was going to be Pitch killing her directly, but upon rewtching the film, I realized he might not have been capable of doing that.)

The Humans' bother me more then the cupid/nimph things. If the author is going to have them believe in the guardians, that's fine by me. But if the only reason they believe is so they can be paired up with Jack, then why bother having them believe at all?

Almost every ROTG fanfic is about some Mary sue OC being paired with Jack, Bunnymund, ect. Why can't there be a fanfic that's actaully interesting? And could they have Pitch stay in character? In every ROTG fanfic I've read, Pitch is potrayed as pure evil and wanting to kill Jack. In the movie, he is the bad guy, but he seems lonely and want's to be seen so he want be alone anymore, rather then just making people fear him for his own sick pleasure.

I KNOW! It's absurd! Also he is needed, it makes me a little sad that people think that he's evil just because he's a bad guy. Fear has kept animals alive since the dawn of time but people don't seem to think of that.

If the plot is just going to be Jack and a girl fighting Pitch and falling in love, then there is no real plot. It get's boring very quickly and is WAY over used and stupid. And also, Pitch is one of my favorite characters. He's not evil for the sake of being evil, he want's to be noticed and the only way to do that is to make people fear him.

I know, it's sad that people just cast him as a stereotypical villan just so their stories can have a 'plot'. If a story had a great plot and was well written I believe that I would be able to take self-insertion to a point. It's very difficult to write it well, the only way to do that is if you're conscious of the fact that you're self-inserting.
I did for a writing exercise, chose the first scene that came to mind, and wrote myself into it. It didn't go so well for me, I met an untimely end because the reality of it is I wouldn't survive under those circumstances.
That is part of what bugs me about self-insertion in this, no one who is writing those fan fictions believes in santa or the easter bunny, I'm not sure I ever did, yet they write it as if it's easy to keep those beliefs when everyone around you is growing up and denying it. A lot of people will drop those beliefs to go with the herd, it's human nature. I wish some people would just step back and say 'is this realistic? How can I improve it?' It's just ugh. Every OC and their sister who likes Jack is either a girl who still believes or a guardian who was not previously mentioned.
That is why it is important to have a truly horrendous display of suedom so people can look at their characters and notice some shocking similarities. Thank you for putting this up so people can EDUCATE themselves.

Jack is an awesome character and I can see why he has so many fangirls. But when they take it to where they want him so bad that they make a story about him and a self-insertion falling in love, they need to be hit in the head with the book of reality and realize that Jack is a fictional chracter and doesn't want to make out with their crappy Sue.

The only time I see a Cupid/Mother Nature OC (despite Mother Nature being a canon character in the book series) is when they are being paired up with one of the characters XD It makes it really funny.
The only time I see someone make a character related to Jamie is when they pair her (always a female) up with Jack to, now that I think about it.

Majority of the OCs that are paired with Jack, if not all, are mainly self-inserts. So that may explain why.
