I prefer efficiently used space over how much space I have. So I generally like small but spacious rooms.

right?! id love to have a room with storage in the walls or like a built in bed Β or even something like the closet i slept in for a week, but with storage along he walls >u<
big rooms kinda make me nervous XD then again the last time i had a larger bedroom i was a very paranoid kid and there were lots of parts of the room i couldnt see which had me on edge haha

I don't mind large rooms. I fill it with furniture that would give me perception advantage.

true enough, its more so those empty big rooms?? last time i slept in one i wasnt old enough to make the furniture decisions XD i wasnt even allowed to decide the paint colour haha Β

Is furniture and paint color something you're usually allowed to decide on as a child???

haha no XD which is why i think my room just kinda stayed as it was.
I dont think my parents wanted to put effort into my room if i wasnt gonna complain, which makes sense cause they knew we were gonna move again in a few years back then

Such talent ~ could you make a step by step gif?Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Nyanfood In reply to mei-stal [2016-12-28 18:22:26 +0000 UTC]
Thank you, but it's not talent. It's a lot of work and practice over the years. To say it's talent would invalidate the time I spent bettering myself.
And I don't work in steps, nor do I separate layers for individual objects since it's just pixel, so there are no process components to form WIP gifs with.
However, if you're looking to learn more about pixeling, it's often easier to just enlarge someone's pixels and look for patterns that achieve the results you want. Memorize the pattern of the color and lighting distribution and apply it to your own.
Hope that helps.

Ah, sorry if my word of choice offended you there
I see, thank you so much. Been trying to get into pixel art but I guess I've just been treating it too much like a normal drawing

Nyanfood In reply to mei-stal [2016-12-28 19:59:46 +0000 UTC]
Rather than the word choice being offensive, it's more that I'd prefer people to view ability from a different perspective.
I feel that people are conditioned into calling things 'talent' from a young age, and this creates a standard that talent > hard work. People may say "but hard work is more important" but the moment they call someone 'talented,' the subconscious lets that slip a little.
Because of this, people will try hard thinking that they're doing their best but a part of them will always hold back, and when someone else works hard, they'll chalk it up to "they just have that skill to begin with, at some degree or another."
So yes, I get annoyed when people invalidate my ability by calling it talent, but I get even more annoyed when the word 'talent' is used so commonly that it becomes an excuse for perfectly capable people to give up or hold back.
I want to see people doing their absolute best to improve at a pace that involves as much of them and as little of others as possible, to be the best THEY can be -- and I get so many people saying 'I want to draw like you' or 'I want to be as good at art as you.' It's frustrating. There is nothing that defines 'good' in art. Only goals and whether or not those goals are met. "Talent" is a word that suppresses self-esteem.
I'm not asking you to change your word choice because it's offensive to me. I'm requestingΒ that you reconsider the meaning of the word 'talent' and how much negative impact it has on an entire culture. I'm asking you to reconsider, as dramatic as it may sound it is true, your part in the fate of the world.
Also, it's okay to treat pixel art like normal drawing. There are many different styles of pixeling after all.

Oh wow, to be honest, I'm actually kind of glad now that I used 'talented', or else I would've never become so conscientious about a topic so many people deem as small or negligible. Really opened up my eyes thanks to you. ^-^Β

But I do believe I ought to be fairly decent now that I've been doing art for more years than I have fingers O_o

The salt for this piece was garlic salt. Zesty enough to be interesting but I bought it from the dollar store so I needed a lot of it to taste anything. (I can't stylize lighting and shading)
