Great work, I like the addition of the cave hyena. Β The cave lion looks like it is about be run down the the irish elk and is oblivious!

Oh thank you! I didnt actually put any megaloceros works on Redbubble, but I should probably get around to that.
The rack sketch top centre, as well as the coloured full-body painting might turn out good on stickers.

I don't recall the names of the horrendous CGI prehistory docos I suffered through in the 90s. Needless to say it's generally a good idea to avoid using CGI models and animations as art reference, as like the game of Chinese Whispers, one will undoubtedly duplicate small errors into larger ones. Even high budget productions such as BBC's Walking With Beasts have moments when the animations feel artificial or the light doesn't interact naturally with the fur. Real living animals, when available, are always the best models.

Agreed.
Besides WWB, I can remember a documentary called "extinct" which had the giant deer, but other than that, I don't recall any other depictions.
Still, I do remember the VFX crew talking about how they were experiencing challenges animating mammals for WWB after doing WWD, as they were far more complicated, and have more moving parts (ears twitching, etc.), so that might explain some of that, along with the fur.
Also, was the pattern for WWB's giant deer accurate?

Yes.
WWB is fairly sturdy, but Ice Age Giants now trumps that, though they didn't have nearly as many episodes or as much success as WWB.
Most paleoartists here regard that as the gospel truth of M. giganteus's fur pattern.

The problem is that IAG is still inferior.Β A boring, biased hostess coupled with animals reserved to "B" footage.

But it has higher-quality cave lions, which make all the difference.

I was talking about the effects, in any case. IAG could ahve had much better narrative, I get it.
