Oh yeah tarantula start off life very tiny. You will not see them that small in most pet stores. I got him directly from the breeder at a reptile show. Samhain is now about the size of my palm and really is a sweet guy.

I think that is an excellent idea! This is definitely one of my all time favorite tarantula pictures. It's so adorable!
I was also wondering if you could tell me what do you use for a background? I would like to improve the quality of my pictures and try to make them a little more professional and I like the uniform white backgrounds that you and other photographers use...

I actually just use one of those white cardboard project boards as a back ground.
Also lighting, bright or dark, can make a big different too depending on your subject. It can take me a while to get even one decent photo that I like. It's what makes digital so great. You can take a ton of photos. And download one of the free Photoshop programs like Picasa. That will help you with also manipulating the lighting a bit, cropping and being able to touch out small imperfections.

More then likely it is also a Golden Knee or a species closely related to them. They are one of the best T's to own b/c they are known for their docile and easy going nature.
