PandiiVan In reply to TheVictorFoxMan [2019-12-17 07:11:55 +0000 UTC]

we don't celebrate it because it has no tradition in our culture.

Oh. I see. Now I understand the relax by yourself. Here it is family time.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PandiiVan In reply to TheVictorFoxMan [2019-12-17 07:26:00 +0000 UTC]

yeah I saw that others here are celebrating it much and huge. But they are also very stressed.

Family Time is nice, but since my parents are my only family, we often have family time

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheVictorFoxMan In reply to PandiiVan [2019-12-17 07:28:28 +0000 UTC]

There is a stress factor because it became commercialized. Meaning high cost.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PandiiVan In reply to TheVictorFoxMan [2019-12-17 07:43:58 +0000 UTC]

ah ok I understand.

But as long as you can still enjoy the time, it's worth it I guess.

Or you can celebrate this without gifting, but just with sitting together and eat something delicious :3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheVictorFoxMan In reply to PandiiVan [2019-12-17 07:51:54 +0000 UTC]

Ah but people don't believe in God and thus faught to ban religion from the religious celebration. So all you are left with is commercialism

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PandiiVan In reply to TheVictorFoxMan [2019-12-17 07:54:58 +0000 UTC]

oh.. this sounds... not good.

Well... although you don't believe in god, you should celebrate this as a family time as you said. This should be the focus in my opinion. Isn't a family the best gift you could ever ask for? ... For me it is, since I know how it is to grow up without the family you need. Without parents love and stuff. Being just a "machine" which has to work. And so I am grateful for what I have now. I love my parents. And they do love me. My childhood was horrible, but I always fight and now I am here, having the best gift of my life: my family.

- sorry for being sentimenal for one second -

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheVictorFoxMan In reply to PandiiVan [2019-12-17 08:03:29 +0000 UTC]

Nah, back when Christmas was first celebrated it was that thought that lead it. Using the Holy Family, a hermit tried fending off the depression of winter in a town by replacing it with the you of familiar bonds.

The church was told about this and asked to adopt it. Other cultural celebrations were adopted and we had a celebration to rejoice for the birth of salvation... A salvation that prised the human bonds more than righteousness.

So your view on Christmas is quite accurate and welcomed.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PandiiVan In reply to TheVictorFoxMan [2019-12-17 08:19:08 +0000 UTC]

ah now I see. So the thought is pretty neat. Sadly the economy use this as a boom to earn money. I mean.. of course everyone like to get a gift (I guess so...), but everyone should also see what they already have and look at those gifts, which aren't material gifts. The world would be a better place when we could appreciate those things we have and don't take it as granted.

But that's only what I think. I don't doom anybody who has another point of view

I like the last sentence of yours: "A salvation that prised the human bonds more than righteousness." I had to translate it, so i don't know whether I understand it right, but it's written well.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheVictorFoxMan In reply to PandiiVan [2019-12-17 08:31:51 +0000 UTC]

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. In Christianity, Jesus is the son of God, made man to unlock the gates of heaven that once was locked.

In other words, Jesus is our salvation, and Christmas is his birth.

Now what I ment by prising human bonds is simply that Jesus did not teach condemnation and hatred for sinners, but forgiveness and love.

He gave us two new rules, to love each other as you do yourself, and to love unconditionally. In other words, he was telling us that we should find reasons to create bonds and find reasons to connect rather than to segregate and class our neighbors.

In many instances, he expressed that self care, and careing for another should come before spiritual rituals, as the rituals can be done later.

Hence, Christmas is the birth of Jesus, our Salvation, who cared more about unifying the world by creating bonds rather than proving how superior one is due to status, belief, knowledge, or rituals.

Oh what a wonderful explanation! Thank you

I never get such an amazing and totally clear explanation but now it's just obvious. Thanks!

Is your religion christianity?

I really adore that thought/meaning you wrote down. Really. This would make our world so much better, when we could just live that.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheVictorFoxMan In reply to PandiiVan [2019-12-17 08:48:57 +0000 UTC]

It would, but sadly we fight for self worth, and self worth is normally saught outward rather than inward. In other words, rather than comparing ourselves to who we were in the past, we compare ourselves to others, resulting in classing others.

Christianity simply means the belief that Jesus is the son of God. So many religions are Christian religions. Yet even between us, we tend to argue due to understandings of our beliefs. That said, I do believe Jesus is the son of God and that there is a God, thus I am Christian.

And if you enjoy that thought, then simply adopt it as your belief. You need not convert, or claim Jesus as your salvation, but strive to see the good in everyone and to find reasons not to hate.

In my eyes, at least, that's worth more than what you chose to call yourself.

PandiiVan In reply to TheVictorFoxMan [2019-12-17 08:56:27 +0000 UTC]

ah yeah... you're right. Unfortunately it's the human nature I have to deal with every day.. of course I am not perfect and also behave egoistic more often than I want, but I train myself to be a "better" human (if it's possible to say that in that way. No offense or anything.)

"Better" is also a definition which is different from person to person, so it's hard to describe what I mean by "better human" but I think you know how I mean it.

Ah okay. I know nothing about religion. Well.. almost nothing. Because there are so many, and so mayn differences.

and yeah my belief is already likely. not exact that same because I haven't got any relation to jesus and the legend behind this, but i do believe in the good in everyone and don't hate, but spread love. Although this makes life hard, because That's why people take advantage of you. But I don't give up. Giving my best still and looking forward.

Being a better human is an ok goal as you are comparing yourself to yourself, not to others. So it works.

As for being used for being kind, there is a difference between kindness and caution.

in the buddism it's when you're doing bad things, bad things will come back to you. I believe in that. Bad things happen to me, because I did sth wrong. And if it's not because I did sth bad, well... it's just bad luck maybe.

Yes you're right. It's also I am not naive, but I want to give everyon a chance to show who they are. Unfortunately I made this decision way too often and trust the wrong people.
