Description Here is what I will probably use as the basic head design "xenowhales".

Funny thing is that it looks "mouthless" from the side, but to explain this, the animal has "usually oriented" vertical jaws, but it has "horizontally opening lips" which are modiffied tentacles actually.

The "vertebrates" on this planet have evolved three tentacles very early on in their evolution, two one of which dissapeared over timem so the "higher" animals only have two tentacles now. They don't necessarily resemble tentacles in shape, they oftenly look like muscular flaps rather than tentacles.

Funnily enough, the "vertebrates" didn't even have their mouth on the front of the body, but their mouth drifted forwards gradually, and so did the tentacles.

I didn't really expect this, but I really like how this turned out, even though it's not what I originally thought of doing.

The upper picture has "transparent skin" so you can see the jaws and skull. i needed to do it in order to put the eye in a propper place.

Very interesting design! Do these find food etc using echolocalisation like our cetaceans? If so, just a random neat thing I learnt recently is that cetaceans that do, as well as those super-hearing owls, have asymmetrical skulls. Apparently it helps trap the sound? You can probably find out lots more googling it. Might be a fun detail for you, if you're interested. It's not really visible on the skin, though, but still!

I have thought of that, but the head design of these doesn't allow for a "melon". I think these would find food by smell (the black lines on the face are chemoreceptoric grooves, their "nose" essencially, and via electroreceptors.
I do know that modern toothed whales have assymetrical skulls (I am quite a nerd when it comes to zoology ) but thanks for pointing that out anyway! I want to have echolocating and/or "superhearing" (I have learned this interesting fact about owls relatively recently ) animals too, but I will yet have to think about the ecologies of the animals before I'll decide which animals get "special powers".

Thanks for your nice words and hints! If you'll ever feel like I've missed something, or an interesting idea that I could use, feel free to tell me! I am more than open to suggestions!

That sounds very interesting!
And I'm glad you appreciate the suggestions. I know one can feel very "possessive" of one's creations and it can be hard to take suggestions on them because you have such a firm idea in your head what you want them to be like. So it's nice to see someone so open about it!

Well of course I appreciate them! Comming up with a global fictional biosphere is too big of a task for just one brain!
On the other hand, I have my own opinion and/or general idea about certain things either, but anything you tell me can inspire me or give me an idea, which might not necessarily seem to be related to your suggestion, but it would still make your hint incredibly useful.

Thank you! I will color them, I want to color them, but that will come after I am sure I got the final shape right.
