Description

fiiiinally getting round to posting my mans!! 💕

i’ve loved Nanbaka Prison for years now and have always wanted to make an OC for it, and since i’ve gotten better at humans I decided to start getting the concepts that were locked away done ^w^ so voila! my first guard has officially been born, Teddy Takuma!

Name: Teddy Takuma
Teddy - “divine gift” | Ta 太 - “thick/big” | Kuma 熊 - “bear”

Alias: Takuma-kun (colleagues) | Grizzly (inmates) | Teddy Bear (close friends/pet name)

Age: 28

Height: 7’1 | 216cm

Weight: 115kg | 256lbs | 18 stone

Ethnicity: Carribbean

Hair Colour: Black (fades even darker at the ends)

Eye Colour: Gold

Staff Position: Counsellor (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - CBT, Anger Management) | Guard

Building: currently unassigned

Status: Active

Skills and Abilities:

- Bear Hug -

he can calm the nerves of any prisoner or guard by hugging them, his embraces put people in a relaxed calm like state. even if they’re internally screaming to get away from the embarrassment alone at the unwanted gesture, they lose the resolve to fight and succumb to how soothing it is

(the only person his hugs haven’t been effective with so far is Hajime)

- Strength -
he has a lot of strength and patience, able to withstand beatings and impacts that most wouldn't be able to endure

- Memory -

he has an unusually sharp memory and can remember each individual inmate he’s spoken too. their personal stories, dilemmas, impulses, skills and secrets are locked away in his mind and kept private for confidentiality reasons

Physical Appearance:

- toweringly tall
- broad shoulders

- handsome

- dark skin

- sharp/square jawline

-muscular and strong

- thin scar with stitch marks on right cheekbone

- big lips

- stern brow

- thick eyebrows

- dreadlocks come past shoulder length

- facial hair is shaped into 5 triangles, one directly under his chin facing upwards and two on either side of his jaw facing inwards

Uniform:

unlike most of the guards and staff, Teddy hasn’t modified his uniform too much. he’s very professional and likes to keep it (relatively) simple to make his job easier, however there are still some added distinct clothing choices, such as:

- a red silky durag that flows past knee length and fades lighter in colour, frayed and worn at the ends

- a pair of gloves that resemble giant dull brown/grey bear paws, they're oversized and plush/cuddly to the touch with long gold claws and stitches at the seams

- boots which have short gold spikes facing forwards at the toe, resembling more claws

- he notably has both his shirt and blazer sleeves rolled up, mainly because he can’t have them down due to the size of his gloves
- belt comes undone a lot and he can never refasten it properly because of his gloves

- Hat Emblem -

an angry looking bear crest in the middle with 4 sharp triangles pointing upwards on either side, resembling spikes

- Collar Pins -

1 thin sharp triangle on each collar that points upwards/outwards

Character:

Teddy is a quiet yet bold and understanding individual, his role as a behavioural counsellor (specialising in temperament) in the male prison is to try and help inmates come to terms with their feelings so they can sift through their emotions in a healthy manner, channeling their anger/dismay into something useful instead of becoming aggressive and unstable like some have unfortunately resorted too. he’s known around the prison as “Grizzly” and due to the sheer size of the prison itself, not everyone has had the chance to meet him so his role and namesake has given him a scary reputation. he’s rumoured to be terrifying in his therapeutic approaches, wringing prisoners dry and turning them inside out (literally) to reform them. many have come back to their cells dazed and completely drained of energy due to the emotional exhaustion their sessions with him cause. so of course other inmates see the aftermath of paying Teddy a visit and assume the worst, the thought of being appointed a bulking bear of a therapist/counsellor that’s going to drain the life out of them is fearful and they see him as an imposing figure or threat. and, unfortunately for them, the other guards/staff don’t hesitate to play along out of amusement and fuel the eerie rumours about the big scary bear that trudges the halls looking for fresh meat to tenderise and maim. this of course makes things 10x worse

but, in reality, Teddy couldn’t be more the opposite of the allegations and the only thing he does that could be deemed “scary” is giving rowdy inmates a suffocating hug to calm their nerves - random acts of intimacy and care to tough prisoners (from a man no less - who’s equally manly in every respect if not more) is an unsettling thought. Teddy is always emotional and overly empathetic to other people’s feelings, compassionate beyond a doubt with no judgement or negative opinions on people’s backstories or circumstances as to how they ended up in prison in the first place. this is one of the main reasons why inmates leave his sessions emotionally drained and exhausted, because nine times out of ten they will, in one way or another, feel compelled to unload whatever is weighing on their shoulders because of his tenderness and soothing/inviting nature. he allows them to do this in a safe private space where they sooner of later feel comfortable enough to unload their inner turmoils and share their deepest darkest secrets. though even as inmates experience the sweet side of him, many start to find him intimidating again as soon as they see him outside their sessions on guard duty, because he’s straight back to being a stern auhtority figure looking for troublemakers to embrace in his arms

aside from his professionally imposing role as a guard and counsellor, behind the scenes Teddy is much more emotional and vulnerable compared to his straight faced, calm and patient nature around inmates who come to see him in private. once he’s alone in his office or room he will quietly sob to himself a bit pathetically, feeling really sorry for some of the inmates on their behalf. he’ll also seek out another staff member for company on his breaks to cheer him up and it’s how some of his colleagues came to know him as a gentle giant that’s overly and unashamedly sensitive on the inside

Quotes:

“it's simple. they fear and despise the very idea of facing themselves, because their actions torment them on levels we as morally coded humans cannot understand. but I see it, as clear as the waters along the Carribbean sands, the underlying willingness to combat their fears and cross personal boundaries. the primal crave to discover something profound once they’ve delved deeper into unknown waters and come to terms with their situation. we only have one life to live, my friend. I have made it my duty to help these men find something beautiful when they emerge through the unrelenting waves, to help give them a second chance so that the world can reward them with one too. that is my goal.”

“Oi, Hajime! When I said try turning his frown upside down, I didn’t mean physically!!”

*Teddy chasing a troublemaking inmate*: “Human on human contact is key to better one’s state of mind young man, if you don’t let me embrace you you will never know the true meaning of raw, unadulterated satisfaction!!”

The Inmate: “What the fuck kind of request are you asking?!?! someone tell this perverted guard to stop chasing me!!”

“The devil was once an angel before he fell from grace. I’m certain that if someone was there to cradle his pitiful soul, fate could have treated him differently”

Extra Info:

- Teddy is very intellectual and philosophical when he's deep in thought

- he transferred to Nanbaka Prison when he was quite young for training, and gets doted on by Kiji Mitsubishi whenever they cross paths as if he’s still a newbie

- Teddy can get clingy sometimes through his emotional stages and needs reigning in when he gets a bit too passionate at sharing his comfort with others

- he will sometimes be heard mumbling to himself lost in concentrated thought, which others falsely interpret as growling or grumbling due to his deep voice and intimidating presence/looks

- he could be considered Hajime’s good friend within the prison (a win in his book because Hajime is so easily irritated by everyone), both having reserved natures and feeling equal frustration towards inmates that don’t listen to the rules - however Teddy is much more compassionate/understanding towards inmates than Hajime is and often gets upset when he sees him beat someone into submission - why not just hug them instead?

- he somehow manages to keep items under his durag and looks menacing when he uses the claws of his bear gloves to pull something out to give to an inmate, who’s more than likely on the verge of pissing their pants as they’re handed a harmless lollipop
- underneath his gloves his arms and hands are covered with scars like the one on his cheek, the cause for them is unknown

I have quite a few more ideas for OC’s and I can’t wait to get them done, my soul craves for another gang of misfit goofballs causing different kinds of havoc within the prison! :'}}}
