I love this. The composition is great, the highlighting provided by the lights is fantastic and the mist/dust feels very realistic. I love the way that some details are starkly lit, like the front-left wheel, while details of others, like the robot hand and the trailer, are in shadow.
In terms of the story it tells, I love the little details. The dog obviously adds to the narrative. The English on the robots cowling too. Plenty of questions remain though, including but not limited to how the arm ended up here, and what exactly it was attached to. The balance works well, I think.
I'm not qualified to discuss your technique. Insanely large image though!

I'm curious about why you decided to go with a tiff format for this? Firefox/DA won't let me see it except at the smallest resolution which doesn't let me see much. Edge is going to take half an hour to download it. O.O
