Description
I've been working really hard to improve my backgrounds, thus I made a really large amount of background for this piece Toby and Raven have been practicing the Airs Above Ground in their free time. He's not a Lipizzaner but can still kick his hooves up! Presenting the 'levade' on a bright sunshiny day!

I always loved this time of year. It was brisk, at least in the morning, and the chance of being able to warm up with my jacket on was one I wouldn’t want to miss! Toby knickered at me as I made my way to his stall and got him out for grooming.
Thankfully the big Australian Warmblood thankfully hadn’t been up to no good in the night. He hadn’t rolled, or messed with his shiny coat much at all!
“That’s the big fancy boy!” I patted his neck and smirked. “Sorry, I mean my big manly man!”
After a while of grooming to a perfect shine I went for the tack truck we’d hauled out to the show. Inside was the nicest set of track I could ever hope to ride in! Wyndshard really had not spared any expense on this set. The metal was covered with gold plate, all except the stirrups, to not mess with the grip, and the bit because the difference in taste wouldn’t suit most horses.
I lifted the saddle into place, lifting the supple flap to tighten the girth. Next the bridle. It sparkled in the dull light and easily slipped into place on Toby’s head. Man oh man did he look handsome! I next got out my show jacket and glanced in the travel mirror to make sure I was looking sharp.
As I led the warmblood out to the warmup arena I went over the routine in my head. I’d been working with Toby on some Airs Above the Ground for a while now. Mostly for fun and to keep the active brain on my mount ticking. Turned out Toby was as happy to leave the ground for Airs as he was for a jump!
By the time we were ready for our go it was getting pretty hot! I glanced around, hoping that Dani would make her appearance soon! I could use a drink of water! There she was! I waved to my girlfriend and trotted to the side of the warm up.
“Hey there you two! Looking extra shiny today!” I smiled and reached for the water bottle she passed up to me.
“Yeah, to go with the song right! Bright and sunshiny today!”
“I can’t believe you taught him those Lipizzaner moves!” Dani put a hand up as Toby nudged her with his muzzle.
“Yeah, he’s a champ! Aren’t you boy?”
Eventually our number was called. I wanted before letter ‘A’ for the music to start. Once those familiar chords were rolling I picked up a healthy dressage passage and moved Toby into the ring. He looked stunning and I knew it! We passaged all the way to ‘X’ and halted a square and perfect halt! This was going to be so much fun!
We did a trot extension, lots of lead changes on the fly, some spectacular half pass, and then...the levade! Right before I gave the cues I heard the cry of an eagle from up above. Switching the reins to one hand I placed my heels just right and asked for the rearing movement. Toby responded with ease, striking the air in front of him with his shod hooves.
Magnificent! I was so pleased he was able to pull off the move. I leaned forward as he stood on hind legs, feeling my seat connect with the high backed saddle. Soon enough he was back to the ground and we were cantering collected, making for the final turn.
Switching back to passage we carried ourselves light as air to ‘X’ for our final salute! It really was a bright sunshiny day!
