I love crabbies. Such misunderstood critters. I love how the style uses his shell to give the illusion of a mouth, rather than having an additional mouth drawn on him. Nothing ruins a perfectly adorable toy crab faster than a hideous, unnecessary smile.

I think you captured his "What have I done with my life?" gaze. He really is a pitiful crab.

I've been thinking about trying to name him after either an existential writer, or some really historically depressed or worried person.

I didn't have to read The Metamorphosis for Humanities. It's rather nice, though.
But yes, Franz as in The Kafka. And Gregor is the main character from The Metamorphosis. I think the crab kind of looks like a Gregor.
