Восхитительная работа! Очень нравятся блики на воде задумчивость Финрода...

I love this painting. First of all; the sky is beautiful. Second of all; the sea is even more beautiful! The texture of the waves and the sun shining there... the colors and mood are perfect.
And Finrod has always been one of my favorite characters. He's looking back to try and catch a glimpse of Valinor, but failing. And I like that his face is hidden; we can't see the pain and sorrow that is surely etched on his face right now.

Yes, he is a great personality.. valiant and brave, but wise and careful. A great traveler and architect and a master of lore, magic and song he was also. He was not driven my oath or revenge but desire to create a beautiful realm for his people and was a noble, just and compassionate king, never haughty or dismissive of others. Being patient and diplomatic and always true to his word, he was respected by Dwarves and Men as well as the native elves of Beleriand.. and he even gave his life to save Beren, who was "but a mortal" in the eyes of many other elves.
Some have said that such an epitome of a good guy can not be a truly interesting character, but i disagree. He was certainly quite pure idealistic hero in a way, but he had his personal sorrows as well and i think he was one of the most multifaceted and interesting characters, even if he always "did the right thing." (which in itself is not necessarily enough of an argument to make a character less interesting, in my personal view anyway..)

Lovely, bittersweet piece. Finrod is definitely one of my favourites out of the princes of the Noldor, he seems such a wise and kindly person, but yet proud and noble as a king. The technique on display here is lovely, and even without the elf within the frame, this would count as a worthy landscape in its own right. I love the slightly subdued colours, and the way that the yellow and blue mirror both in the background and in Felagund's clothes. Great work, the sun's reflection in the sea is wonderfully done, leaving a very sad image. The yearning is easy to read.
