Description A friend set me a little challenge recently to whip up some of my fractal manipulation dress designs based upon the seven deadly sins - BUT they had to be ‘cute’ designs

This one would be Sloth
Grey seemed too dull the more I tried this one so I added a hint of pale blue and wanted to make the whole thing light looking sort of floofy and cloud like - the sort of idle daydreamy cloud watching etc.. also added some butterflies again to go with the idea of lazily dreaming and watching the world go by

The others in this series

Gluttony [link]
Greed [link]
Wrath [link]
Sloth [link]
Vanity/ pride [link]
Lust [link]
Envy [link]

Fractal manipulation created using fractals rendered in apophysis and edited together in photoshop
Most the fractal shapes used in this can be found in my fractal stock folder.

This is beautiful!
I usually don't comment but, I had to on this!

Light blue is the sin Sloth's colour, and the fact that you made it fluffy and cloud like adds onto the feeling of just letting it loose! The butterflies also help! It's just calming, relaxing, and, well...Sloth!

I should know! My friends call me Sloth! And I would wear this! I absolutely adore this!

thankyou kindly for taking the time to compliment
my friend set me a challenge of the 7 deadly sins in dresses and i was originally considering a grey edit for Sloth but my friend wanted them to be cute so i started thinking of wonderfully lazy things like daydreaming, watching clouds etc and then went with the light blue
i just wish i had the kind of talent needed to create something like this for real.

It's just so freaking beautiful! Your mission was accomplished! I fell in love with this dress and I don't particulary even like dresses! Comfort is key as I say! It just really reflects me. I like to just laze around and think about life and daydream. I prefer to take things easy and slow, even my music. I sleep a majority of my spare time and I'm not to diligent to be honest I especially love clouds because of the way they just roll so carelessly in the sky, I'm jealous of them kinda. To just take life that easily, I envy them to a point just not enought to make me Envy herself XD
My friends literally call me Sloth so, as Sloth, I approve of this dress! If I could make one of this I would!

part of me loves dresses but i know the rest of me is none too keen on them as in i can doodle them like this etc. but not keen on wearing them so much haha!
most my spare time involves either reading or creating art, though as winter is starting to draw in now i am feeling horribly sluggish especially now the mornings are getting darker

Ah, same here. I love 'em, just not enough to wear them.

Again, similar. My main too hobbies. And yes, as Winter draws near I begin to grow lazy....ER than usual. After October ends, I get a bit depressed Halloween and the fun of it is gone so, I spend my time sleeping from boredom and the new cold weather that just seems to lull me into dreamland. I've never really liked November I supposed. It's like my hibernation time you could say.

Funny thing is, I thought the butterflies were fairies.

butterflies or fairies i think either is relevant when it comes to sloth, its the idea of laziness and i wanted to avoid the dull grey that would be the first thought and go for something lighter and aim for more idle daydreaming so its a representation of one of the seven deadly sins but its still pretty at the same time

That's true. And it works to me. ^^

the main issue with this one was the colour - i was unsure about the lightness compared to the darkness of some of the others - that and the seven virtues ones i did were all very much pastel shades

I would try blend grey with light blue, it would make it more fitting. But that's just me.

i'm usually one of those people that re-works a lot so chances are in the future more variations on the theme will happen

Oh that's good. You never know when you find something to work for it. ^^

my work is always evolving and changing - i made a series of works based on hearts in cages and the seven deadly sins some time before i made these dress ones - and i find these work as a far better interpretation - not to mention lead to the virtues designs as well

I like the sin dresses better then the virtuous ones, ironic XD
This is awesome!

lol a lot of people say that - but the sin ones are certainly more vibrant and certainly a little more fun - the virtues ones are a lot more subtle pretty but perhaps not as fun - i guess its also a matter of most people remember the seven sins but not so much the virtues.
to be fair i wanted to keep the sins ones pretty - this one i wanted the light airy feel like sloth is about being lazy so i wanted a feel of sort of lazy cloud watching etc with this one

perfect dress for me!! i'm lazy nearly all day!! hehe, nice touch with the pale blue/gray concept, you really made it seem almost 'dreamy' rather than 'lazy' (i mean that all as a compliment!!)

glad you think it worked i wanted to go more with lazy summer days as making it heavier and sluggish themed it wouldn't fit with the cuter idea of this series for me

I love this one, I like the lightweight look of it.

rockgem In reply to Created-By-Caz [2011-06-09 11:46:22 +0000 UTC]

thankyou - i could have made it heavier looking but sloth generally terms lazy so i was thinking more idle doing nothing watching the world go by - like spotting shapes in clouds etc. and it fitted more with the others this way than making it heavier looking and longer - not ot mention i didn't want it to be dowdy

thankyou made me more think of lazy summer day's cloud watching or something - in greys it lost its 'life' as it were and was too dull

It does convey a dreaminess . . . and it looks comfortable too

rockgem In reply to dragondoodle [2011-06-09 10:09:57 +0000 UTC]

thankyou for the compliment i jsut wanted it to feel light and airy in a day-dreamy kind of lazy rather than a weight down design cause it wouldn't have fitted with the rest of them
i used some of my stock ones for this i just tweaked a couple together and in the cases of all of them made the hem lines shorter

thankyou for the compliment i was tempted to make it darker and heavier for laziness - but as i had to make these 'cute' i descided to go more light and daydreamy
