Description Illustration to my fanfiction about Gildor and also my answer on a question of Gildor's origin   I think that if Gildor had been son of Finrod and Amarië, Valar would him barely allow to go to Middle-Earth. But it would be a pity if Gildor hadn't been in any relationship with Finrod, wouldn't it? I love to imagine that Gildor was son of some Noldor pair which died in crossing Helcaraxë and Finrod then took care about him.
In this scene, Gildor's father has fallen in a water and now he's giving his son to Finrod, which still keeps the balance at some floe. Maybe he would be still able to climb at floe and save himself, but he would risk that all of they three will fall in the water and sink, even his son. So he decided not to risk it

Painted with watercoulours, combined with white tempera. I think the background isn't very good (it looks terribly unrealistic, like from some children book) so I maybe will do some changes in it yet.
I hope you'll like it

That would explain the whole House of Finrod thing.

I'm sorry, but I don't write in English The plot of fanfiction in short: After Noldor reached mainland in Middle-Earth, Finrod and some another adventurers yet returned to try to find at least some of missing Elves. Finrod found a family with little boy. Mother got hurted and died, so Finrod tried to bring at least father and boy to camp, but they got caught at cracking ice and you can see what happens above. Finrod and Gildor was actually about few metres of mainland, but they were still imprisoned (since you can't swim in such an icy water). Meanwhile, many Elves came and some of them wanted to bring rope, but it seems to Finrod that it won't in time. So he threw Gildor to standing Elves and then he jumped himself, but he fell in water! Thanks to Valar, it was so close to land that Elves could pull him out.

awwww, so sad! Yes, I have read several theories that Gildor was taken in by Finrod after being orphaned for some reason
