An eye tutorial of my style! know that this is a heavily stylized eye tutorial, and isn't a guide to draw realism, nor is it the be-all end-all of guides! feel free to mix and match with other guides or just experiment on your own~!

More detailed steps V
Step #1
Sketch the eye, it can be any color, size, or shape.
Step #2
Line the eye, but don't line the iris. I find lining the iris impedes my style.
Add flat colors, I use a pastel version of the iris' color to color the sclera, but you can also use an off-white if you prefer
I recommend making the iris on another layer, as it makes the further steps easier.
I personally put the iris, and its layers in a group that clips to the sclera's layer, with all iris layers clipped within the group to the iris. It makes it far easier, but it can be a little confusing
Step #3
Make a new layer and clip it to the iris layer, set it to Shade or Multiply *or similar layer setting*.
Add the pupil on said shade layer, I use the sclera's color and make it slightly more saturated and darker to make sure the pupil is never black, edit the color to your taste.
Make another shade layer and fill it with the color you used for the pupil, or a similar color.
Then partially erase parts, i start with a half circle at the bottom of the iris, intersecting the pupil. Then move to the soft bubbles in the still dark part, then the segments in the lightened area.
Step #4
Make an Overlay layer, if you have a gradient tool set it to circular and add a gradient with the focus point at the bottom center of the iris.
> If you don't have a gradient tool, color a small-medium circle below the iris, then blur till satisfied
I use the lighting color for the overlay color, with some exceptions
Make a new layer set to Dodge or Shine *or similar layer setting*, and grab the lighting color, making it more saturated.
Semi-outline the 'bubbles' or 'segments' you made on the second shade layer, with the Dodge layer.
Add squigglies in the middle of each bubble/segment
Step #5
Close the iris's group, above it make a new Shade or Multiply layer, clipping it aswell. If done properly, it should only effect what is within the bounds of the sclera's layer!
Fill the whole layer with the scelera color, or a slightly more saturated/darkened version
Erase the center, paying mind to where you want the light source of course.
Blend it till satisfied!
Add a Shine layer, clipped in the same way as the previous layer made.
Take a low-opacity brush and add lil dots,, just,, lil sparkles,, there is no rhyme or reason, there is only *glitter*
Or if you favor reason, take that low-opacity brush and add small ovals / semicircular light spots, these will act as 'reflections' without actually having to spend a bunch of time on them!
Favor making them on the side with the light source, and directly opposite of it.
Make another Shine layer, and add the eye shine!
Now be free, experiment!
