mm, i have to agree, the girl is very well done, but the dog looks flat next to her. Feasibly there could be hair over his eyes, but there's such a lack of texture in his coat, whereas the girl has super crazy texturized hair. It just look unfinished to me.
I love the concept of it, but i think that the feeling of emotion is hindered by the flatness of the dog. The girl brims with it, the dog looks like a piece of plastic or a cardboard cut-out type object more or less incapable of emotion.

The lack of shading on the dog pushes the focus completely on the girl for me. That is not a bad thing, but I would have dropped a few more details into the dog. Great work on the girl, her expression is just wonderful.
