Description A reticulated python. My first ever drawing of one, inspired by the coloration of a tiger retic and a sunfire platinum citron retic. Also inspired by the magnificent 17-foot reticulated python Daisy and 19-foot reticulated python Lucy from BHB reptiles owned by snake breeder and Youtube host Brian Barczyk, who hosts SnakebytesTV and his own personal Vlog. Mowgli: Who are you?
Kaa: .... Kkkkaaaaaaaaaaaa......

Kaa is an Indian rock python, not a reticulated python. Retics are different colored and are generally possessed of a longer head.

Although it is said that Kaa is huge

Yes, but size alone dos not make him a reticulated Python. In Rudyard Kipling's original stories, Kaa is said to be unusually large even for his species, and is well over 100 years old. He was also one of Mowgli's greatest friends and mentors.

Than it makes sense that in the movie, Kaa tells mowgli about fire.

Yes. But at the same time, she still wants to eat him in the film.Β

She's also badly nerfed. That snake was virtually invincible in the original version

Well, they did make her a little more realistic in that sense. You think a snake wouldn't be injured by a bear clawing and biting her?

Would be injured, definitely, but this really seems like another case of the "mammal superiority" myth.

BTW there is one case of a retic eating an adult female sun bear.

That I know, but the sun bear was half starved and weighed 150 pounds.

150 pounds is basically the same size as the snake.

Next to the 13-foot African rock python filmed on March 1, 2017 that killed and ate an adult male hyena weighing 150 pounds.

I'm seriously wondering:

Why are there only about 10 pet constrictor-related fatalities in the last half century, when there are a lot of these things in the trade?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Saberrex In reply to acepredator [2017-03-21 02:50:08 +0000 UTC]

Because for all their power, pythons, especially retics, are smart and depending on their personality, they tend to remember their keepers. The few that do kill people often end up giving blame to the many that are overall docile snakes.Β

acepredator In reply to Saberrex [2017-03-21 03:09:42 +0000 UTC]

This.

There was also one case where a likely murderer got away because it was thought his snake killed two boys. But the boys suffocated, when constrictors kill by causing cardiac arrest. So it couldn't have been the snake.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Saberrex In reply to acepredator [2017-03-21 05:50:21 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. The snake was framed.

And they passed more legislation against pet ownership when the snake didn't even kill the two boys.Β
