Description Tutorial on my current coloring techniques, used to create images with dynamic shading and colors that can be completely changed after rendering a black/white image.
Grayscale base is rendered not with values, but simply where the light is and isn't/shadows. Values can be applied later using multiply layers if desired, if light direction should be changed, add shadows on a multiply layer above the inital grayscale and put AO on the bottom one. Or use Overlay to add lights to light spots. Will do grayscale tutorial next.
Using Paint Tool SAI

Now when you go to "blend" these together, do you use the airbrush tool or the water tool?

Not sure how you mean, but I never use the water tool if that helps

Never thought of trying this before, been focusing on light and dark values with warm and cool colors because texturing objects in college, I'll give this a try, thanks xp
